Losing weight goal with 0 exercise

I’ve seen it. A lot of fat people and a lot of attacks on “big food.” Certainly agree that the availability of high calorie processed food makes it so very easy to overeat. And not one person profliled was operating with a calorie deficit. And I would agree banning processed food would help lower obesity rates. Would take a little more effort to overeat. Do you support such a ban? Dry counties have less alcohol related health problems as well. They still exist, but any barrier lowers consumption a bit. One point from the movie debunks a common myth. It was shown that eating whole foods can actually lower your food costs. Kudos to them for pointing that out. And the kind doctor profiled mention that sugars in all forms, including fruit juice and corn syrup, become a toxin over certain amounts, while part of a nutritious diet in “normal” quantities. So, once again, the overconsumption of sugar, and other calorie sources, is the primary problem. You can argue all day as to why. Blame your parents, blame “big food”, blame the government, blame addiction, blame the sugar dealer, or blame donald duck, the bottom line is these people are fat and they overeat.

a) burning more than you eat constitutes most of the results b) yes, there are other biological factors at work that influence the results

Yes. As a master problem solver, I simple work thru the problem logically and solve the damn problem. All things that have been tried have failed, only a fool keeps discussing those. That leaves what has not been tried. A reverse of what caused the problem, is a guarenteed solution.

No, this illustrates the American cultural belief in personal choice beating the environment, this is a cultural belief and not an objective view of reality, and it’s why Americans get nowhere on this issue. It also brainwashing, the corporation passing off externaility using propaganda like “you did it to yourself”.

The real bottom line is that the food supply changed (industrial revolution) and now everyone is fat (more importantly sick with metabolic syndrome diseases, of which central obesity may be one). There is likely no solution to this problem since population expanded to the limits of the new food supply. Sick/fat will be the new normal for thousands of years while the animal adapts.

Ok well this thread has made me very confused. I have no ambitions to become a super healthly Olympian, and on the other hand, I’m not eating a daily calorie deficit of Big Macs and fries either. I’m basically trying my best to eat mostly fruits, vegetables, and good protein (not deep-fried etc), no bad carbs (no pasta, pizza, bread), and no soda, cake. All this + a daily calorie deficit, and no added exercise. Surely I can lose weight like this?

You will definitely lose weight. Don’t be afraid of good fat (mono saturated animal and plant fat, basically anything natural and not processed is fine, avoid anything with poly unsaturated fat). Plenty of fat will keep you satiated and eventually will become your primary fuel source as our evolution intended.

No, not necessarily. The reality is most people don’t lose weight like that, or by any other method (fact). The belief is that they should be able to, but apparently nature does not agree [shrug].

I think you need to reread the CFA1 quant book. While his diet plan is very good for health, the statistics are that very few people lose weight, and very few lose weight long-term. So it’s not 100% probability.

You may be right, you may be wrong. But I’m going to try it my way, and see what happens. If it doesn’t work, then I’ll start working out

Oh I’m definitely right, and you might lose weight.

I was gonnna be a good boy these last few months and watch my diet and exercise. The exercising has fallen by the wayside, but I have been relatively good on the diet part. My weight’s been steady, but I’ve come to the wretched conclusion that I hafta haul my fat, sorry butt into the gym if I wanna lose my spare tire , my man-rack, and the unrequested LDL surplus.
