“The Do Nothing Democrats should be focused on building up our Country, not wasting everyone’s time and energy on BULLSHIT, which is what they have been doing ever since I got overwhelmingly elected in 2016, 223-306. Get a better candidate this time, you’ll need it!” - President Trump
I don’t like Trump, but the tax cut was good. If he could follow that up with spending cuts, that’d be great. But it will never happen because US is addicted to the spending…both lousy parties. For almost 3 decades the US have no military equal, yet we spend on defense like a drunk frat kid at a strip club. Now with China’s military rise what do we do as an encore?
In a press meeting near his helicopter this morning, Trump asked Ukraine and China to investigate the Bidens. Such solicitation of something of value relative to the 2020 election from a foreign entity is a felony (link to the statute below). During the 2016 election, you might recall that Trump publicly asked Russia for help in finding Hillary’s emails (not to mention the numerous Russian contacts). As president, Trump can’t plead ignorance that such solicitation is a felony. And, of course, because it’s a request to foreign entities to intervene in the elections of the United States, it warrants impeachment.
America contained Russia for more than 50 years through a network of alliances, in particular NATO…the most successful multi-lateral defense alliance ever. We could do the same with China, but Trump’s policies are undermining these alliances. I don’t see how that is good for America? I also don’t see any reductions in expenditures.
Following Kurt Volker’s testimony to select members of the House yesterday, chairmen of three House committees (Intelligence, Foreign Affairs, and Oversight) released a selection of text messages that Volker provided.
Some doozies in this article… and why does it always come back to Russia?
* “In one of his first calls with a head of state, President Trump fawned over Russian Pres. Vladimir Putin, telling the man who ordered interference in America’s 2016 election that he was a great leader and apologizing profusely for not calling him sooner.”
* “In a summer 2018 call with Prime Minister Theresa May, Trump…disputed her intelligence community’s conclusion that Putin’s government had orchestrated the attempted murder and poisoning of a former Russian spy on British soil.”
Trump’s calls with foreign leaders have long worried aides, leaving some ‘genuinely horrified’
From the WaPo. BTW, if you’ve ever seen the film “Spotlight,” the chief editor of the Boston Globe in that movie is a man named Marty Baron. Baron has been executive editor of the WaPo for a few years now.
Holding Ukraine hostage: How the president and his allies, chasing 2020 ammunition, fanned a political storm
It’s hard to argue this policy. Whenever we leave it will be painful so you may as well get it over with. Trump can do no wrong in the eyes of his supporters so he’s uniquely positioned to make so of these hard calls.
