The fact that the Russian chick was lying to him was not part of his decision process, either because he was incredibly naive or he became deluded in some other way. The scenario he constructed was based on faulty information. However, within that scenario, the Russian bride was an attractive option.

Foreign girls are more exotic but I think they are more materialistic compared to North Americans (ie. money is more important). I think the dad wasn’t thinking about the $$$. He just wanted companionship even if that means paying for it.
^but a lot of money for them is not really a lot for us.
