Maybe it was my nasty email

About an hour after I sent in a nasty email to CFAI regarding their handling of this results release scenario all the links to that section are now gone. Both the Level III Registration and view exam results. It looks like this is the case for everyone now. Be interesting if I receive a reply. I’m no tech expert, especially websites, but I find it very hard to believe this had to happen. Can’t they have a test site set up to mimic the real thing, do what they need to do, then just replace it with the real one on Tuesday morning.

Are you crazy??? Now next year there will be no sneak peek… I find it very hard to believe someone would look 2 days in advance, get a hint, then complain!

Thanks for ruining it for us Big Babbu. You obviously have too much time on your hands. Getting the effort to check the CFAI website early in the hope you can get somesort of indication. Getting an early indication, and then writing a “nasty email” - priceless.

nice job skid mark

Coming from a guy who calls himself CorvetteMan…that hurts alot

It did NOT have to happen. Trust me on this one

I totally believe you CSK. I’m not a tech expert by any means but I’d bet my house (that I outright own…not bad for a loser) that they could have done this behind the scenes without all this going down on here this weekend. My email to them was in regards to their year after year treatment of all candidates in the way they release these results. I’ve been through enough of them that it’s damn frustrating. Every year it’s something different. And really, as if my email is the reason this won’t happen in the future. Like they don’t have spies on this site and wouldn’t have figured it out anyways. So blow me.

I am tech expert  and i’ve done much more complicated websites with much higher traffic volumes

so you think the link really signals something? or it is just coincident?

That i wouldnt know

BB, I dont necessarily agree or disagree with the fact that you sent an email. What you did, however, is a little selfish because you logged on, saw a possibly displeasing indication and decided that you will take the choice away from everyone else… How does that make sense? Not that I really care, since I had enough time to check and be comfortable enough with the indication. I understand your frustration, though…

Personally, I think it does because as I laid it out in another post it looks like what they are doing today they did right before they put the link up for the results release last year. I hope to god I’m wrong, or maybe they took it down before they got it completed. I hold the CFA designation in high regard, but I have a real issue with the way they handle exam results year after year. We are forced to wait 10 weeks for these damn things and I’m sure many others feel like yo-yo’s as d-day approaches. I’m not sure what’s worse, what went on here this weekend or having to wait 2 hours the morning of the release day because their pathetic servers can’t handle the traffic. I’m sure they are doing this today to help with that problem, but I’m sure it could have been done without everything that went on in that website this weekend.

For those that didn’t get to see and would have liked to…if it was in fact my email that got the links removed I’ll apologize. In hindsight I should have waited until after the results came out. I’m a little quick to fly off the handle sometimes. But my gut feeling is they would have figured it out sometime before that. Because I’d be shocked if they don’t have spies lurking all the time in this thing.

but checking the website today was optional. they told us that resuts would be out on tuesday.

I’m sure there were dozens of people who called / emailed CFAI complaining about this anyways. Think of all the pissed off lurkers here who got the news of their failure after reading the threads on L2 and L3 forums. All in all, there were probably hundreds or maybe a thousand people who caught onto this pre-results giveaway.

You know, I dont think they care… if they really cared, then they would learned their lesson from last years “link clue.” The fact that they dont care to even address this leads me to believe that the IT was aware, just did not bother (maybe because they are operations and not higher up in the food chain)… Your email probably got some attention since the customer service are more tied in to the whole process and are able / willing to forward any complaints higher up. I am more appaled at the fact that it takes them 10 weeks to actually come out with the damn results… These last few days have been equivalent to the 2 months we have been waiting. Nightmare, lack of sleep, you name it… etc. Dont worry about the results, wait till tuesday to make up your mind for sure…

BB First of all, I disagree with you about your email. Second, There is no way that they figured it out from your email. Today is Sunday and no customer service to read emails, except if you have sent the email to the CEO or someone in the board.

quorky Wrote: > Dont worry about the results, wait till tuesday to > make up your mind for sure… amen

babbu, i’m gonna have to agree with everyone against your actions. no one told you to check out the website. if you’re opposed to early results then don’t go to the website. what exactly are you mad about? the result day is an arbitrary day that they choose. it’s meaningless. by your contention it’s one’s right to be angry at checking results even after results are official. your results can be “official” in september if you want. i wish i checked out my cfai profile earlier!
