Most expensive thing (for consumption) you've spent money on?

What’s the most expensive thing you’ve spent your own money on, besides investments? Don’t count your education if you didn’t pay for it (if your parents or even Scholarships paid for it, then it doesn’t count.) Don’t count the CFA charter as a grand total of all the money you’ve poured into taking the exams.

For me, it’s around $7500 for a used Toyota Prius. (No, I don’t own a home.)

Car for $10.5k up front.

House for about $260k in 2009, $52k down to avoid PMI.

If I didn’t keep reigning in my fiance, then next on the list would probably be my wedding.

Does a house really count as consumption? I would argue it doesn’t; you get long term utility out of it.

I didn’t really pay for my own education. The military paid for it. Then I had VA money that covered the bill while I was doing the Master’s. But I did borrow $60k or so for living expenses for two years. Does that count?

I paid $21k for a Mazda Tribute in 2004. I still drive it. I hope to drive it for another five years or so.

Daughter’s 7 weeks in NICU - $500k (hospital bill only). Out of pocket was only $2k, but it was crazy to see a bill that big.

^Respect on the ring. I know there’s been a lot of talk on diamonds and sh*t here but I’m saying if I love someone enough to want to marry them I would have no problem spending $10k+ or so on the ring…she deserves it for being so awesome…have not found her yet though.
