Most expensive thing (for consumption) you've spent money on?

You will find so any more mayo sauces in Japan, wasabi mayo, curry mayo, mustard mayo, teriyaki mayo…

…shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes…

^ Thanks Bubba.

excluding the house, for me it was a 1st class plane ticket to Australia.

Bingo! I got a Bingo! Wife decided she wants new cans (all on her own) w/ the baby tuck. I got a Bingo!

now…how big to go???

Depends. How old is she?

starts w/ a 3

Perhaps we should narrow it down to a single purchase without financing.

So no house or boat or car unless you pay them off immediately.

Wow, congratulations.

I can’t remember everything…but…

Big Green Egg and eggcessories - about $1,500 (and worth every penny)

La-Z-Boy recliner - $1,200 (and worth every penny)

55-inch LCD TV - $1000 (in December 2009. much cheaper now)

I guess I could keep adding kitchen remodels and other furniture/electronics. But they’d probably all be in this range.

I almost bought a massage chair for around $3800~4000USD.

But instead i bought a coat

Perhaps most expensive purchase is my vintage channel handbag? that was definitely expensive but i still use it regularly now, so it’s okay.

i do not wear a lot of expensive accessaries so they can’t be more than a couple thousand US dollars.

SIngle purchases (not including vacations) without financing:

Mostly gifts for other people. Dropped $1500 on a stove for my parents when theirs died. Bunch of 1k-2k handbags for various women in my life (gf/sisters/mom). I remember two dinners with the gf that were north of $1000 for the two of us but both those were special occasions.

Other than a box of cuban cigars every 3-4 months for ~400 bucks, and a monthly bottle of Macallan, my only personal indulgence is Jets season tickets that run 4k a year.

The Post ran a story a yesterday about a guy who had Giants tickets. He had four of them. He left them on his dashboard while he went into a restaurant. By the time he got out, somebody had busted his dashboard and left two more.

What about weddings?

One co-worker said that a “standard” wedding package would cost at least $40k…That seems excessive.

^ My wife and I paid for our own wedding and it wasn’t anywhere close to $40k.

I was a tad suspicious of his numbers…But we come from different backgrounds so I just wasn’t sure.

I’m dealing with wedding stuff now. Seems ridiculously expensive…like, everything is just mad overpriced. Every photographer I talk to wants like $3k and the ones who are cheaper really have sh!tty pictures, ugh. I used to think that $40k was a really extravagant wedding, but looking over my budget with estimates it is pretty easy to see how it gets so expensive so quickly. I mean, food can easily be $15k, alone. I’m a cheap SoB, so this is killing me.

I’m going to Vegas over Thanksgiving, maybe we’ll just git 'er done there on the cheap.

I am not surprised…wedding receptions in Japan are VERY expensive. Not to mention photography, gifts, professional MC and entertainment, FLORAL, dress/suit/accessories… before you go on honey moon you would have spent a year of your salary.

I hear the Best Little Chapel has a high roller package. Hats, coffee mugs, etc.

Do they do annulments too?
