Movies

Margin Call and Rogue Trader.

Technically speaking, Rogue Trader is not a “Wall Street” movie because it is about futures trading in Singapore for a British bank.

Whiplash is amazing

Interesting to hear the good reviews for Whiplash

I was meaning to catch it at the cinema but it only lasted a few weeks with all the big films out at the moment.

I wasn’t thinking about this in terms of a movie about finance, but I guess we do learn a bit about commodity trading. But avoid? No way. One of the best comedies of all-time.

Edit: I was surprised to see Wolf of Wall Street is on Netflix so I watched it this weekend. Quality flick.

Just watched the Interview on Netflix and was pleasantly surprised. Not recommending it to anyone but if you go in with zero expectations, you will end up finding it watchable.

^ You trying to honeydick me?

I had low expectations for The Interview, so I was pleasantly surprised as well… Franco’s role grew on me.

Finally got around to seeing Fury and Nightcrawler. Actually I wish both of them would have developed more of a background story - something like Saving Private Ryan. I’m sure this was by design, but both were still good movies with Nightcrawler edging out the victory.

Gambler and American Sniper are next on my list.

^ me too, also Inherent Vice

Big Hero 6 is a pleasant watch.

Someone here recommended the Persian movie ’ A Seperation’. It’s outstanding.

I liked the trailer more than the movie.

^ interesting. It only lasted a few weeks in cinemas here so sounds like a bit of a dud.

Saw American Sniper and thought it was really good. I wasn’t aware of the story behind it so the ending was a bit shocking.

I hated inherent vice - couldnt wait until it was done

american sniper is a great movie but the manner in which he is portrayed is polar opposite to his real self according to his book

I went old school last week and saw City of God, i recommend that to anyone looking to rent (all subtitltes though)

^ City of God is a classic, I’ll have to watch it again.

So was Chris Kyle an asshole in real life?

I am receiving a disturbing number of invitations to go see 50 shades. How do I tempt these girls for American Sniper instead?

This.

Also “Maria full of Grace”

If I were single, I’d be hanging around a movie theater this weekend waiting for the packs of horny women to come out of 50 Shades.

Going to see 50 Shades with a group of women? That sounds like the start of a great film in itself.

Also reminds me of when Magic Mike came out. I heard from one of my wife’s friends and a female coworker (I assume they didn’t happen to see it at the same time/place) that they heard women using vibrators during the movie. I have a feeling the whole theater will be shaking this weekend.

Which leads me to ask a serious question…why is it apparently ok for women to do this but PeeWee Herman gets arrested? At least he was actually in an adult theater. These women do it in the same theater I watched Big Hero 6 in.

Oh great. Now I’m strangely aroused.

I’m going to see it tonight with the wife. I expect my first handy in a theater since high school.
