Snap back to reality, oh there goes gravity. Oh, there goes Rabbit, he choked. He’s so mad, but he won’t give up that easy, no.

in all seriousness, i would leverage his big shop connections. have coffee with the analyts and ask good questions to show his interest in the field ask for 3 referrals who can give more insight, increase network his name is out there, he can give updates on his studying etc easy

Alan are you fat? AF has a no fat people policy

To summarize - will you likely be able to go on a jobs website, apply with no connections, and get a call for ER? Unlikely. Could you get a job in ER within 1 year with the right combination of networking, self study, and targeted applying. Certainly.

I weigh 375 pounds and have an addiction to McDonalds. No I’m not fat lol. Thank you for the help so far. 1morelevel, i was thinking the same thing.

Alan, I wish you no harm. But to think that an analyst will have their report shred to pieces in ways more brutal than what you read here in AF, I will have to ask you this: do you really able to cope with that kind of stress? Your way of handling the “negative criticism” is quite appalling if you really make the jump to ER.

The guy is probably only 25 years old and you’re saying he’s done. Alan, just do the sales job its probably more rewarding then being a one dimensional spreadsheet monkey with your entire ego and sense of self worth tied to your career or lack of one.

Ha, I can take critique very well. I do every day. I deal with clients, money managers, wholesalers. I see it from all angles. But to take it from people that I don’t know who they are… that is a little different. You could be a CFA, top mba, smart person or you could be a brat behind your computer trying to act like a big shot. That is why I get a little pissed when people come out with negative answers right away. There is always a way. To say that you’re screwed is not a reality and is a cop out answer for people that don’t know or think they are too good. bodhisattva, haha. Don’t start being like them. I’m sure they are not one dimensional spreadsheet apes. However, they just might like to throw darts at a newspaper and hope they can outperform, all while having me try to sell their crap haha and, all while saying I’m like a pharm rep. So from a non targeted 3rd strike PSU grad, a 2nd strike broker terd pusher, and a 1st strike crappy Philadelphia location, I will laugh when I get the position I want, where I want and when you are all back on the forums looking for a job because you narrow minded so called ER analyts got canned. To all those who gave good advice, or even though out criticism , thank you. It did help. To the rest of you, set up a new IRA, I see a 401k rollover soon, haha.

There is no greater motivator than people saying you can’t do something. The important thing for you is that you have a destination. The reason most people never reach their goals is that they don’t define them, or ever seriously consider them as believable or achievable. You’ll be fine. MS is a great name. You just need to work & leverage from here on in. No different to anywhere else.

“good advice” = telling you what you want to hear “bad advice” = telling you the way it is, even if it’s not what you want to hear but the knowledge of upcoming obstacles could actually be helpful gotcha

Would you give a black man a BJ for an ER role and no one would ever know about it?
