Noooooooooooooooooo!!!
For a multi-page thread, we need the option to click on the last page (and really all the pages) from the main page. Along this same topic, once you are directed to the first page of a multi-page thread, the buttons to move to later pages is on top of linked text. And, the same problem with the “2.0” version, posts are hard to read with all this white space. Need color.
Also, there’s no “edit” button. And, you can’t tell who posted the last comment.
Thanks for the feedback. We will be adding the pages on the forum list along with the author of the last post. The plan is to continually improve the new site after we get the launch behind us.
Back office?
The Back Office is still here but it now has its own section at the top of the page.
I like the new motto " study together, pass together" Reminds me of “We Ride Together, We Die Together, BAD BOYS 4 LIFE” Is that where it came from?? lol I’m not being sarcastic, I like the motto
I liked when Threads could be seen by who created them and who was last to comment. Don’t want to click on a thread and find out it was made by Arial10. Also It’s more difficult to bounce around between pages (L2/BackOffice/General). Overall: GRRRR
chad the avatar makes u looks softer than cartweeling through a meadow of dandelions,
What happened to the logo? And the new font scheme for Analyst Forum, is the worst I have ever seen, just saying.
First of all, I think we should congratulate Chad for pushing through this update with no noticeable malfunctions. I’m sure we will come to appreciate the enhanced functionality once we learn to use the new features. With that being said, I was wondering if there was something you could do about the amount of white space between posts as they are displayed using the new layout. The white space creates a lot of fatigue when browsing the forums, as we need to scroll through a lot of empty space when navigating up and down the page. For instance, here is the page for AF’s “General Discussion”. Using my screen size and resolution, I can see 14 topics on one page without scrolling. http://www.analystforum.com/forums/cfa-forums/cfa-general-discussion Compare that to say, Wilmott forums, where I can see 28 topics. So Wilmott’s page has twice the amount of information on one page, without sacrificing content. http://www.wilmott.com/categories.cfm?catid=4 The same applies to the threads themselves. There are only 8 replies above mine, but I had to scroll the equivalent of 3 pages to get down here. Again, this creates a lot of user fatigue and will eventually reduce the frequency of visits. It would be great if there was some way to compress all these lines - preferably by making the comment boxes wider, and by chopping out some of the white space between text lines. Better color contrast between thread replies and forum topics would also enhance readability. Finally, would it be possible to make the comment text boxes (where you type comments) bigger? I just realized this while composing this message, but I feel like I’m typing a huge comment into a tiny text box with a tiny scroll bar. I imagine how this small text box would be highly frustrating for people who like to write very long academic replies (cough **bchadwick** cough). Anyway, thanks again for the update. I hope others can share their thoughts about my comments.
Agreed with ohai and others Flipping between forum sections needs to be a one click thing. I love that the new website is at least responsive and quick. Seems like you haven’t encountered any bugs/glitches
Excellent.
Wonderful Joe. You demand all of these changes so you can continue to fill the forum with your drivelous nonsense. Also, when am I getting those mags/vids back? You keep dodging my tweets on your fbook wall.
Well said. The amount of space between threads is frustrating.
Yep, too much space, not just between threads, but also between replies. More contrast would also be nice in the colors. Maybe slightly wider text boxes as stated above as well. Will let you know when I come up with more.
Oh, I remember what I was going to say, bring back the exam count down counter, at least to the main page, maybe even put it in the sidebar of the Level specific forums. I used to like that reminder.
I also like the mini top bar that let you jump directly between CFA forums instead of going back out to the CFA forums main then clicking into another forum. Also, the edit feature would be very nice to have back.
I wish the posts could be “wider”, less scrolling down.
this forum format doesn’t seem very readable
