Not sure if I made myself clear in the post.
The readings scheduled for December WILL NOT be available until at least February 2015.

For what its worth, the CFAI Curriculum Wiley 2015 L2 books are less robust than the 2013 version (no idea what 2014 look like). Looking at volume 1, its 10-20% thinner and is actually a couple pages longer too.
What sort of problems have people had when printing the Elan/Wiley guides through Vitalsource?
I get duplicate formula boxes, large blank spaces between some paragraphs and some readings are printed in a very small font.
I raised this with Wiley but they just directed me to Vitalsource’s support.
Strange thing is I can print the CFAI material just fine.
If you print the books from online.vitalsource.com by selecting all and going to print you’ll be ok.
Here are my thoughts on the Elan videos and the notes thus far. I am a re-taker so I already know most of the material. I think the overall production quality, both in the notes and the videos, is lacking with Elan compared with Schweser. I find the Elan videos to be somewhat useless because all that’s happening is they are reading you the notes with only a few extra explanations. I could just read the notes on my own.
In terms of the notes I think they’re great for someone who is re-taking because they are are a much better summary than Schweser, but if you are learning the material from scratch I do not think Elan is nearly enough to pass.
The main difference between Elan and Schweser is the Schweser notes are more detailed, and their videos are not just reading the notes, they are going over completely different examples and use short form slides. The Schweser slides and videos themselves are not enough, but combined with the notes could be enough. The Elan videos and notes have less detail than Schweser and as I said, the videos are just them reading you the notes and going over the examples, there is nothing new in the video product.
My other complaint with Elan is the servers that their videos are running on are terrible. I tested my internet last night on speedtest.net and I am getting speeds of 50 Mbps down and 5 Mbps up which is more than enough to stream video … the Elan videos cannot buffer at a high enough bandwidth to even make the text clear on a full screen and they cut out every 10 minutes which tells me their servers are brutal.
Overall in my opinion I would recommend Schweser over Elan based on what I’ve seen so far. Schweser may cost more but in my opinion you get way more for your money. With that said the Elan notes are great for a re-taker.
Are the explanations/intuition provided better with Wiley compared to Schweser?
I got the videos, so buying the notes will just be a waste of time?
I’ve now gone through all the notes/videos for quant and econ, in my opinion the explanations are better with Elan than with Schweser. I would say if you have the Elan videos you would also want the notes so you can easily follow along in the videos and make notes based on some of the explanations in the videos.
So far I like Elan, I just wish they had the production value of Schweser. With Schweser you can tell they are a big company based on the presentation of the notes and the videos, but with Elan you can see someone made it in their basement. In terms of content Elan is good though, it is cheaper than Schweser with the videos so it may be a better value. I do think Schweser did a better job of teaching you the concepts from scratch in the videos, but considering I am a retaker Elan is the way to go in my opinion. If I had never taken the material before I would say Schweser videos are the way to go.
CFA-RETAKE code doesnt seem to be working. How do you identify as a retaker on the new Wiley site?
Elan probably has the worst service I have ever recieved when spending hundreds of dollars with a company. Year after year they make promises about when products will be available and they always end up being late. Sometimes months later than promised.
I have experienced this on several different products of theirs. Once you get the materials they are generally very good (although they mislabeled 2 of my books last year) but they really need to get their act together when it comes to delivering the materials.
Thanks man. I had already contacted them with proof of retaker status and got a different code. Now waiting for an iPad so I can study on the move and every fucking time I have some downtime.
You’re welcome
As per the following PDF, Wiley/Elan has released many of the LOS for CFA L2 for Y2015. It seems they are still working on the LOS which has changed from last year. Even eBook isn’t competely ready but look at pdf for additional details:- http://www.efficientlearning.com/wiley-cfa/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2014/12/Availability-Schedule-Level-II.pdf
I got 24H trial access to their video (which is streaming only). I personally find value in their video and don’t see need to get notes as video completely covers it. There are 3 different instructors to deliver these videos. As per Wiley’s website there are more than 110 hours of video which is good but might be too much for some. I think Wiley video along with CFA curriculum would be good.
One could request 10-40% discount for the material.
