There’s a lot of blame to go around but Reid is actually pretty far down the list. Sure, his clock management is horrible, but when you’re up by 28 points in the 3rd it shouldn’t be a factor. This one is on the defense. Horrible, horrible defense.

I can’t really blame the offense. Alex Smith put up one of the best post-season QB displays of all time and Bowe had 150 yards, but Smith’s intentional grounding call on the last drive and Bowe’s inability to get both feet in on the last play…just pisses me off so much.

This one is going to take a while to get over.

And, six major injuries including four pro bowlers? WTF is that about? I thought we were done when Charles went down on the first drive, but Reid and Smith did a masterful job…most of the game.

With a 28 point lead, all Reid had to do was keep the clock running. That’s it. With Charles out, sure this is harder, but you have to be able to adapt. Reid called eight total runs in the second half. For the record, this is vintage Andy: stubbornly follow a pass heavy offense despite all indications point to the favorability of a run heavy offense.

He also burned a time out on that 3rd and 7 with about 7:00 left to play and then burned another time out after converting it. He burned two time outs on one play, while KC was still up by 6. That’s hard to do. The defense did give up too many plays over the top (the one thing you can’t do) in the second half. But Reid f’d up royally as well, and if he 1) ran the ball more and 2) didn’t burn two timeouts needlessly then KC could have certainly won.

Maybe it’s only after you see this for 14 seasons that you start to see the pattern. I have lots of mental game tape on Reid at my disposal.

I disagree. In this day and age, playing conservatively kills you. There was still way too much time left to simply call 3 running plays every drive (they were up by 21pts with 26 mins left when they got back the football). Look what happened to the Broncos last year in the playoffs and to the Saints (vs the Pats and Panthers) this year. There are countless examples this year of teams just trying to run out the clock only to be beat by the last play of the game. Coaches (many that have been fired since last week) have learned their lessons the hard way. The game has changed. Big leads are not safe anymore. Too many pts scored, too many long passes, too many pass interference penalties.

In today’s football, the QB with the ball last will win. Both the Saints and 49ers won with field goals with no time left. If Bowe doesn’t lose his positioning on the field, KC wins the game the same way.

there is a difference between winning your division (which the pats should do with Brady and the rest of the division sporting mediocre qb’s) and winning 3 or 4 Super Bowls in a short span. The last dynasty was the pats of the early 2000’s but that was a long time ago.

I just read her wiki page. She has 4 kids now and is getting older…so I doubt she looks as good as her prime. She goes from HCB to MILF.

False. FB was created in 2004 and the Pats won in 2005.

I hope the NFL network replays their game from earlier in the year. I missed it because of a power outage. Heard it was an instant classic.

2 interesting facts:

The Pats haven’t played a road playoff game since January 2007 (AFC championship game vs Indy).
Although the Colts and Pats have been the cream of the crop during the last decade, Manning vs Brady has not happened in the playoffs since 2007. It came real close several times, including last year.
