I know nothing about American football but I wasn’t gutted that the panthers lost, Cam Newton seems like a piece of shit. For the Broncos 2nd touchdown when he could have jumped on the ball but jumped back. Is there an explanation for that that I’m issing or is he just a wimp?
and do games always go on that fucking long? I was shitfaced by the end of it. Would people actually sit on their own sometimes and watch it or is it always a social thing?
One thing I hate about the NFL is the volatility from season to season. I miss the days of dynasty teams! I’m tired of a team making a run to win the Super Bowl only to suck for years afterwards! Tampa Bay has won a title for christ sake! St. Louis Rams!
Talk to the NFLPA about giving free agency back in the next CBA if you want more dynasty teams. Owners would love to keep a player’s rights throughout his career again.
^The best thing about the NFL is the parity. Off-season predictions are almost always wrong, no one can forecast who is going to be good or bad, and we’ll hear about strength-of-schedule debates starting almost now that will be absolutely useless when a few games into the season.
There’s a lot wrong with the way the NFL does certain things, but creating a competitive landscape is not one of them.
I really hope they don’t pursue that 7th playoff team they were talking about last year or the year before. I think the NFL schedule (regular season and playoffs) is the best setup in sports. But the threat of some extra cash obviously might be too much for the owners to pass up.
Meh, that’s a stretch and no one in KC is really that unhappy with him. We hadn’t won a playoff game since 1995 so just getting out of the Wildcard round was huge for us. He’s .500 in the playoffs and he’s made it to what, four NFC championship games and a Super Bowl? I think about two-thirds of NFL teams would be fine with that kind of opportunity.
I know the Titans, Jags and Texans are just brutal competition.
Lions, Vikings and Bears… oh no!
Another quality igor troll post. The Pats go one and done so often, right? Never proven they can beat the top teams in the NFL in addition to their division.
the good news for yall is that next year Den is likely to regress with a new QB, Oak is still getting better and SD will still be Avg - so you should win the division and hopefuly get a home game…then Reid can do his magic
The AFC East could have been a lot different. It’s rumored that Peyton Manning was considering coming out early in 1997 when the Jets had the #1 pick and would have come out if the Jets had told him they would take him at #1. Since he hadn’t declared for the draft though, they weren’t permitted to speak with him and he went back to school and the Jets traded the #1 pick to the Rams who selected Orlando Pace.
A few years later, a then scout for the Jets, Jesse Kaye, claims he begged Bill Parcels to draft Tom Brady but Parcells wasn’t interested because they had Pennington (drafted 18th overall that year) and Testaverde. Parcells says he has no recollection of Brady’s name being mentioned, but just imagine how different the NFL world would have been if either Manning or Brady had been a Jet. Or even better, Manning a Jet and Brady a Pat.
