And the #1 seed in the AFC goes toâŚthe Raiders?
If only Al could see his team now. Theyâre just winning, baby!
Horrible two days of football.
Oakland has a pretty brutal schedule left, if only by virtue of their division. Road games against Kansas City and Denver left with a few home tilts against average opponents like Carolina, Buffalo and Indy. Hard to see them finishing 14-2 or even 13-3. Their defense outside of Mack is still garbage.
However the Chiefs suck and Denverâs magic has to run out eventually right? Nice to see a fresh face in the conference for the Patriots to compete against. Just want to play them at home, please. The last time that happened it worked out⌠pretty well.
Thanksgiving slate looks better than it has in years!
Donât sleep on the raiders
Whatâs with Al Michaels taking bye weeks now. If he canât do both TNF & SNF, then have some pride and retire. Only the great Vince Skully should be allowed to choose the games he wants to broadcast.
Watching the Cowboys this year has really been a joy. The opening drive yesterday was so dominant. Jay Gruden knew his team had no chance to stop them.
i disagree. Dude might be the Jason Witten of announcers, and probably has the greatest call in sports history. (âDo you believe in miracles?â)
Plus, I donât think Tirico is a big drop off in quality. Heâs definitely the best announcer MNF has ever had (that I can remember), other than Al Michaels.
Kudos to the Ravens for their final play against Cincin yesterday. I love it.
cant believe my J-E-TS JETS JETS JETS lost to the Cheatriots
Great game last night. The AFC West is by far the best division in football. Itâs the Pats and the West and the rest.
The NFC East might disagree.
Edit - just checked the standings. AFC West has 29 wins. NFC East has 29.5 wins, and Philly is playing tonight. I expect them to beat Green Bay, which will give them 30.5 wins.
Dallas is legit, but Iâd take the Chargers over the other three in the NFC East. Honestly, I donât even see it being close. KC and Denver probably have the two best defenses in football, and the Raiders are actually very good (god, writing that actually caused me pain).
Plus, the Chiefs have been playing with our second team most of the year. Last night was Justin Houstonâs first real game back (last week didnât exist) and he dominated. Denver might be falling apart, but I doubt it. Iâd still put money on them being a wildcard team. And no one wants to play the Chargers right now.
I like Washington, particularly Cousins. They look good. Philly sucks. No one is worried about the Giants. Sorry Higgs.
^I disagree. The Giants are deinitely behind the Cowboys in the division, but they might be the second-best team in the NFC, since Seattle lost (inexplicably) on Sunday.
Washington also has a very good offense that carved up the Cowboyâs (inexplicably) better-than-average defense yesterday. Not hard to think that they couldnât move the ball against any AFC West team.
And Eagles > Chargers.

The Giants are deinitely behind the Cowboys in the division, but they might be the second-best team in the NFC
Perhaps, but that would still put them about 8th overall.
Both the Giants and Redskins have benefited from pretty easy schedules. You can only beat who you play though, so a win is a win. One or both is likely to make the playoffs though, so weâll see how they really compare.
No point in debating the better division when people are clearly biased. Letâs use an objective source: ESPN Power Rankings (note that this is from before this weekâs games)
AFC West
Broncos (#5)
Raiders (#4)
Chiefs (#7)
Chargers (#25)
Average: 10.25
NFC East
Cowboys (#1)
Giants (#6)
Redskins (#9)
Eagles (#15)
Average: 7.75
^Power rankings are not at all objective.
^ Why wouldnât they be? Are you saying ESPNâs power rankings are not objective, or all power rankings? I just checked and Yahooâs are fairly similar to ESPNâs.
^ An inordinate number of people who live west of the Mississippi believe the national sports media has an âEast Coast Biasâ.
