Just because youāve never heard of James White doesnāt mean he isnāt good. The guy is obviously no slouch. Iāve been watching him since college. I would also replace Amendola with Edelman on your list. Your main point holds true though. Bill B has an amazing talent for filling out his team with role players.
The induction of Terrell Davis, and to a lesser extent Kurt Warner, is a signaling that temporary greatness may prevail over longevity. Forever it has been required that a player be both at the top of their respective position and have done so for many, many years. Terrell Davis had arguably the 2 best consecutive seasons ever by a RB, but the rest of his career wasnāt that great (i.e. not HOF worthy). Warner had a great career, albeit up and down (NYG days). It will be interesting to see how this impacts voting in future years.
A. Rodgers is a HOFāer today, no question.
And TO still not getting in is a joke. The voters should be ashamed of themselves. Especially in a year like this with a so-so (weak?) class.
Shipped off two freaks in Chandler Jones and Jamie Collins, meanwhile using other teamās trash like Kyle Van Noy, Shea Mclellin, and Eric Rowe and somehow it works. Crazy.
I agree with the HOF class. Terrell Davis and Kurt Warner? Really? There are way too many inductees as it is. They should severly limit the number who get in, like how MLB does.
I listened to sports radio yesterday. The program had one of the HOF voters on. He was talking about why TO didnāt get the votes. He explained that the votes are supposed to be about what was accomplished on the field and how the candidates affected the NFL. He further explained that that doesnāt always happen. TO was/is such a bad person/teammate that thatās the reason why he hasnāt been voted in. He refused to give any examples or stories of what TO did.
Great comparison actually, not sure when you put it that way. I think that helps the Warner argument because AR is def one of those guys on the cusp. 2 or 3 more solid years he is a shoe in even without more MVPs or SB wins
I think Rodgers might be the most talented QB in the history of the league, but he hasnāt performed at a top level long enough for HOF. I have no doubt heāll be there in 3-4 years. I have a pretty high bar for HOF though.
Voter guy on the radio said that Jerry, the owner, has actually done a lot for the NFL in terms of increased revenue and broader reach via the television contracts.
