how did u guys score on CFAI 2011 Mock afternoon? I thought it was going good until I graded…54% :(…ethics got totally bombed…
65% on CFAI Mock - looking at the answers I should have got another 3 or so questions right (sigh) Schweser book 2, exam 1: 74% AM 75% BSAS: 66% AM 60% PM
Schweser 1 AM - 55% Schweser 1 PM - 73% Schweser 2 AM - 64% CFA 2011 Sample 1 - 83% Schweser 2 PM - 80% … Schweser 3 AM - 74% CFAI 2011 Sample 2 - 83%
Took Sample 2, Got 86 and 2/3rds. Kind of a waste of money. Got 2 wrong in equities and they were very ambiguous questions. *Spoiler* I really do need to read on why stratified sampling is better than optimization. It seems like it can always go either way. I did take one of the hooks though and took value for the manager who identified deeply underpriced companies in the index and bought them. [/Spoiler]

Did this one have to do with limiting trading expenses? I forgot, but optimization has to be rebalanced periodically.

I have yet to see that anywhere. Gross of fees was only a recommendation. I should preface this as it was a mid cap composite not a real estate or PE.
Yeah, I agree with you Paraguay. I answered the index question correctly, but was wrong on the GIPs question. I also thought the equity question regarding buying stocks below IV being a blend/core strategy was a bit of a poorly worded question.
In terms of the usefulness of the Samples, I think they are a good exercise (at the very least, you get a feel for how the PM questions will be worded) and the institute claims there is a high correlation between those who take the samples and those that pass (this is probably more of a reflection on how prepared the average candidate is that has time to take both samples). With that said, the results breakdown is a complete joke. You scored 83% on Ethics and 83% on Portfolio Management. Well, thanks for the “feedback”. They need to break the PM section down into the relevant subtopics, so you really know where to focus.
Sorry for coming off ignorant, but where did you guys get the CFAI morning exams? I took both the mock exams, but thought the sample exams also only feature item sets with multiple choice?
On the CFA website search sample questions. It should take you to a landing page with 2008, 2009, and 2010 AM Essay tests.
Many thanks!

I sure hope so. Like Level I and II, I’ve at least put myself in a position to pass on exam day, and that’s all you can really ask for. With that said, I’d like to see the AM/essay scores come up a bit. Say, in the 70-75% range. I’m writing 2008, 2009, and 2010 this week so we’ll see what happens.
