70+ everywhere but Alt Inv (50-70). Needless to say really happy with my results.

I agree with you- I find the CFAI text to be very well written whereas Schweser drove me crazy at times. Unfortunately, it’s a give/take as CFAI is a bit over the top in terms of words per concept.

Passed on second try! Shout out to Biuku and my other Torontonians!

Less than 50 in port. (expected since it was the topic I saved for gravy)

50-70 in Alt (felt strong on the calcs but weak on the concepts) and FRA (think I slipped on a few I should’ve had)

Above 70 on everything else (very happy!)

Might as well join the crowd. Passed +70 in all. Massive congrats to everyone who even had the courage to take on this leviathon, pass or fail. For anyone interested in my general thoughts;

  1. Love the line, MOCK TIL YOU DROP. Should be spending about half your study hours just doing questions. I would have done over 10,000 questions in Level 1 and probably 5000 in II. Cant do enough questions.

  2. Schweser worked best for me in I and II. I dont care if they miss a minor concept or two, at the end of the day I’m not aiming for 100%. Aiming to read all the curriculum front cover to cover is a recipe for disaster - simply too much text and not enough time.

  3. Wiley didnt work for me. I used Schweser in LI, then L2 I thought I would give wiley a turn. After a month or so, I gave up and spent the money to buy schweser. I found wiley was too focussed on covering every minute concept. What was 2-3 hours of online lectures for Schweser was like 10-15 hours for Wiley. As per point 2, I pay Schweser to summarise the key points in the curriculum, not to regurgitate them.

  4. Aim to cover all the material in 3 or 4 different ways. If you get stuck, keep going and catch it on round 2, 3 or 4. For instance, I did a face to face class, watched all Schweser videos 2 or 3 times, read the secret sauce cover to cover, and used the Schweser texts where I was falling short. Cannot rely on only one pass - new material simply pushes out old material and you’re not any better off.

Anyway, congrats again!

Passed!

Having passed Level I in December 2015, I only had 4 months to study for Level II plus full time job. My strategy was hammer it on the BIG 4 and avoid failing on the rest. Got 70+ on Equity, Ethics, FRA and Fixed Income, rest was 50-70 except for Derivaties and Portfolio which were below 50.

You definitely should. Even if you don’t have questions, by contributing to others’ threads you will learn a lot about your preparation: What you know and what you don’t know. You will receive feedback on your mistakes, omissions etc.

Keep your head up Rex. Take a few weeks off to refuel and then then get back at it and knock it out of the park next year. Thanks for all the contributions on the forum over the last several months.

Thanks for the shout out. Glad to hear you passed as well and thanks for your contributions over the past several months too! Thanks to the others you name and Bill as well for all the contributions. Couldn’t have done it without you guys’ input.

Passed! Happy and proud! Congratulations for those who passed too and don’t give up for those who failed! >70% AI, PM, FI, Ec, Eth >50% FRA, Eq, CF, Q <50% D

STRONGLY disagree with this as well. I used Kaplan for 95% of my studies and got 70%+ in every category except Ethics. People who say Kaplan is not enough simply did not study hard enough. they do not skip any LOS and cover it all.

Thanks Krok.

I expect to do around 500 hours of study for Level 3. With a newborn and < 6 months to study for L1 and L2, I had quite a bit of time pressure. Now I will have 10 months. I spoke with Schweser and they said many level 3 materials will be out in a few weeks. I’m starting early so that I can get in tons of mocks.

First time poster. Long time reader. Passed Level II, and congrats to everyone else who did and I feel for those who didn’t. I was wondering if anyone had any insight on Wiley or Kaplan for Level III or any other materials they have used or had recommended to them. I used strictly Kaplan for level I and II and they got me through, but have heard Kaplan is a little weak in the Level III material. Andy Holmes is one of the best, and was wondering if he was an instructor for Level III as well. Thanks an advance for the response.

Passed. Onto L3…

I am expecting my first child in two weeks!

I am registering for L3 tomorrow as soon as the registration opens. Might as well break a record by being the first… Going all in on the last lap.

Passed!

51-70: Econ, FRA, Equity

Congratulations!

it will be easier by the time they are about 6 months old. In the interim, my biggest study suggestion is getting sufficient sleep.
