P90X or Insanity?

Maybe he turned over a new leaf and doesn’t like arguing as much anymore. Which is a shame, since it made things so lively.

You are so wrong, it’s not even worth my time to respond. Just know that you are wrong.

Touche!

Wait—is it possible that BS and BWYF are one and the same?

Ahhh, Insanity. I did it during Jan-Feb ’12. It was funny because I’m in very good shape, slim frame (6’0, 170), so I thought I would destroy Insanity and this Shaun T guy … long story short, I almost throw up my intestines on the second day. Next day I used my heart rate monitor and whenever I exceeded 160 bpm, I would chill a little bit to keep my rate below that threshold. My resting heart rate is in the mid-low 50s. If you look carefully, not even the guys/gals in the video do every rep; I was trying to do every rep following the fittest b!tch instead of the dudes, so that was my rookie mistake. After controlling by bpm I was just fine during the rest of the program. If you are out of shape, you can control by bpm and do, I don’t know, 60% of the reps, and it will be a good start.

As others mentioned, diet is more important than exercise if you’re trying to lose weight. You should eat five or six small healthy meals, and never allow yourself to be neither really hungry nor full. If you’re very hungry, you’ll overeat. Probably the hardest part is controlling yourself to sleep at night with your stomach half empty. It’s awesome because after a few months you’ll find the thought of eating a big mac with fries and coke disgusting because having a full stomach feels bad with this kind of eating habit, as opposed to rewarding when used to eating poorly.

Follow this and you’ll drop weight faster than a needy b!tch looking for a spot in a cheerleaders squad.

At the company I work at we get free catered lunch every day and have every snack, junk, and health food you can imagine all free. I will load up on greens for lunch and whatever the protein is. If we are having pasta or pizza, you just have to manage it.

I run probably 5-6 days a week flats and hills. I have some nasty hills where I live. I also got away from the free weights and do pushups instead. I’ll do 5 or 6 sets of 35-50 and rest three minutes in between.

It works for me.

Reminds me of my younger days in the Corps.

I went to a tech school in Monterey, CA. It was my first duty station outside of boot camp. We had a lot of young-uns that would brag, “I went to the REAL boot camp–Parris Island.” (Half of MC boot camp is Parris Island, and the other half went to San Diego.)

Then we would start running up those hills in Monterey, and they would start sucking wind, gasping, “I can’t handle these hills, man. We don’t have those on the east coast.”

REAL boot camp, indeed.

That’s a great routine. I cannot do weights anymore, I lose too much nerve energy when the brain sends the signal to the muscle to contract, can really exhaust. I’m talking mostly about powerlifting.

Running with pushups/pullups is beautiful. And indeed much healthier for cardiovascular system.

That Asian girl is intense! I love the video where Shaun T goes to here and is like TAKE A BREAK NOW! She was hesitant and I fell slightly in love with her.

In college, when not hungover I used to just wakeup and do max push ups, then 100 sit ups and repeat 3 times. Mix in with running and it’s a great routine. The sit ups give a good active rest for your arms/chest on the push ups. If I were to do it now I would mix in squats too.

In college, I had a goal of doing 1,000 push ups in a day. I got up to where I could do 5 sets of 100. Then I gave up as I realized it was like walking uphill on a treadmill lol

^Did you take the challenge?

Same here, at uni I wanted to benchpress double my weight, but stopped at 150 killos as it was probably my prossible upper border, since then I didn’t do too much of it, as I realised it is unhealthly. Cardio is a great choice for me now. Hate all these barbells and dumbbells

No, I did a back work out and then did 20 minutes of HIIT doing intervals of 60 seconds intense, 30 seconds moderate pace. Have you taken the HIIT challenge yet?

LMAO at “back workout”. Brah’s just chillin on the lat pull down, doing all kinds of iso stuff trying to get shredded…what’s tomorrow, calf and forearms day? Acting like HIIT is the holy grail.

150 is impressive.

I’m noticing my weight lifts are declining as i concentrate more on mma. Its def a mental hurdle to overcome the need to be the strongest.

What’s your snatch and C&J? Power is sexy.

I’m starting to think that Greenie was right that you and Black Swan have swapped  Nice try at being a troll, though.

I’m probably at 215 snatch now a days (I can OH squat a lot more but my technique isnt the best) . My C&J is 265 (i can clean 275). Power is def important but I’ve had to cut some weight and the weight I want to compete at is still far away.

Do any of you have a workout routine via excel? My brother put one together for me and I want to see how it compares.

Some strong guys in here.

whatsyourgovt, definetely commendable achievements for a level II candidate.

You will definteley progress at level III haha.

I remember there were some really good old soviet school cycles for weightlifting. Though not so many for powerlifting which I did at uni. These cycles are more of a science with years of trials on real sportsmen, however may not be applicable to amateurs or guys not on androgenes/anabolics.

Are you planning to compete? have you already? Very interesting
