Paid Maternity and Paternity Leave

^^ you should just cut the shit and stop with all the invented ideology surrounding libertarianism and lead with “we don’t like tax because we like money”

@TF - Yes and no. Gay marriage being legalized and marijuana to soon be are both steps toward personal liberty. Fiscally, I agree that both the right and left seem to like to seize our money. It’s just a matter of degree.

@gb - As a party, libertarians do need to get off their/our ideological soap box. That’s my biggest problem with the party. Most of our candidates that actually do manage to get airtime come off as crazy. They just need to take a step back and remind people what we stand for. We should be capturing the youth vote. Not a god damn socialist.

@ gringo – ok muchacho. you got me pegged with your impregnable analysis. i get it, people like you believe you know how everyone should lead their lives. if they would just do what you say they should do, then they will be so much happier. you’re just trying to help them. you’re a good person for that and deserve praise, right? it’s like you’re the savior of the stupid little people who would be miserable without your guiding light. you’re their Jesus, don’t they get it?

^ is this the meltdown thread or something?

you’re an ass. you don’t know me. i went to the cheapest private school possible because my family doesn’t have much money and there were no publically funded options. CAD$5,000 per year in year 2000 dollars and it was tax deductible. the public system failed me. if it hadn’t, i would’ve gone to public so that my parents didn’t have to work their asses off to pay for school that actually challenged me in some way. my sister-in-law who shares a similar IQ did just fine in her public school’s gifted program.

I say abolish most of the federal social programs and regulations and just give everyone, including billionaires, a transfer payment administered by the States, if they so wish. Class warfare is disgusting and means testing is perverse and demeaning. Stop belitting those on the lower end of the income scale. And of course, vouchers are the only way to go. Why should a poor child be trapped by the government in a certain school. You’re incarcerating the kid yet he or she has done nothing wrong.

Yes, I agree on vouchers. For school, daycare, health care (sorta, but more complex). Let the market compete for those dollars, but give every kid a fair kick at the can.

You’re right I don’t know you. Nor do I wish to. And I may be an ass, but at least I don’t spout ideologies that require theft, imprisonment, and the reliquishing of ones freedoms and liberties in order to serve your own personal idea of a cohesive community. You do you. And I’ll do me. That’s the beauty of it all, I’m not forcing anyone to do anything. When everyone is free, you can still choose to voluntarily live in a private socialized community if you wish, while others choose not to. We could still get along and interact in the market, the profit incentive will inevitably encourage this, but at the end of the day we’d both still have our rights and freedom even if I choose to keep my earnings while you give yours to your communal leader.

/\ Funny how very very few of those private socialized communities exist.
