hi all to everybody who will be taking the december 08 level 1 exam…lets keep in touch and discuss our problems here…questions and help welcome…people from australia in particular sydney should join…we can catch up here and can work as a group…
Why not give the june exam a go? There is still plenty of time for you to study.
hey eric Thanks for your concern but I am working full time and it will be hard for me to put in like 2-3 hrs a day. and also I wanna take my time, I don’t only want to pass this exam but to clear all my concepts and apply in my career. I think if I go for dec i will be able to spend more time and will be able to clear all my concepts. R u from sydney… Cheers
Ricky: By delaying to take the L1 exam in December of '08, you’re either going to take L2 in 6 months (June '09) or wait an ENTIRE 1.5 years to take L2 again in June '10… You may be losing valuable time and wasting a full year… Just my $.02
thats the one side of coin. The other side is Ricky gives Level 1 in June 2008…and then reappear in Dec for L1 2008. I think its better to concentrate more on concepts other thn just studying to clear an exam. Also one’s primary job is more imp.Save your job as you have to pay for CFA exams!!
Ricky take June 08. Use Dec 08 as a safeguard incase you fail.
My wedding is June 8th, so the June exam is a no for me.
Come on DanLieb, take the exam and get married that evening! =) Congrats!

Mate I think you are absolutely correct. I am not like most of the students whom I met on the forum who are more concerned about passing the exam. Mate passing the exam only won’t do much good to anybody. I want to take some time and make sure I grasp all the concepts and I am not really concerned about time frames. I believe in learning rather than passing. I hope you agree

I hope you agree Don’t you have a background in finance, and you work in finance? Most of the concepts shouldn’t be that foreign to you.
freemantle yeah true, i went thorugh the level topics and realised that I have coverred most of the topics in the uni. I still think that there’s more to learn. I do have quite a bit of knowledge in equities but I still believe with derivatives and other stuff I still need more knowledge. I did cover them in Uni but no In-depth and also in the Uni i studied to pass the exams and was not able to apply. I think it is a good opportunity for me to refresh my knowledge and get a greater in-depth knowledge on stuff. Apart from that I am working full time and its hard for me to give a lot of time towards my studies. It might be too stressfull for me. I want to take it easy mate. And also I completed my uni(MBA) 2 years ago. I still think to pass the exam you need a lot of practice apart from having your concepts clear. Neways thanks for ur concern mate, appreciated.
Ricky, I’m in Sydney too. doing level1 in june

I am taking the exams in december. I am working full time and not sure whether I will be able to give a lot of time to prep. any how keep me posted. cheers
Ricky, I agree. So you started studying? Which topic(Reading/Session) are you planing to pick? -Rick.
hey RDX I will be enrolling next week and then will be starting my studies after I receive my course material. I will be starting with ethics and probably after that economics and so on. How about you. Are you doing your Level 1 aswell. Mate I really wanna give time to my studies and I am sure I have got a lot of time if I sit in december. I am more concerned with understanding the concepts and applying that in my career. I am not here to pass only but to apply what i learn. Its no point passing the exam without understanding the concepts. Mate we have to think a bit professionally. we are not students anymore(atleast in my case) , we are professionals and I expect to do everything keeping my career in mind. I am sure some people like you will agree and heaps won’t. Its all about your maturity and the way you think. keep me posted and we are on the same level we can discuss problems. cheers
Roger!! I will be giving L1 in Dec 08. I started with Time Value of Money. Yeah its ample of time till Dec so you can study well. best of luck. -Rick
Hey RDX Cheers mate. Keep in touch we can discuss problems in the future.
I just looked at the December 2007 exam date and test centre’s. I didn’t realise the CFA institute only offers about a 1/3 of the test centre’s in December, as compared to June. If i fail the June exam, i will have to fly to the other side of the country just to sit the exam! I guess that’s even more motivation to study hard.
Hello, I am going to take the Exam in Dec 2008- be glad to post back and forth. I’m in Florida now, although it’s a ways I definitely need this forum- I am in a jungle where people’s IQ’s are their shoesize.
