Pistorius gets away with murder

The Paralympic athlete Oscar Pistorius has been found not guilty of the two gravest murder charges against him.

this may have been a case where the prosection got greedy and wanted too much, and the evidence was bad but not that bad enough.

^His life is over anyways. He will always be the guy who kinda sorta killed his gf and kinda sorta got away with it.

^ Yes, life with several million in the bank in a low cost country is so tough. Boo hoo. His life is over… give me a break.

The fact that Pistorius will not be sentenced with murder doesn´t mean that he´ll not be sentenced with homicide, which can also imply lots of years in prison.

He is not done yet. He will probably be found guilty of culpable homicide - and get around 8 - 10 years.

My biggest fear for him is what happens when (or if) he goes to prison. White and legless, in prisons known for rape.

It may be a low-cost country, but it’s also a country where “men hiding in the bathroom, trying to kill him,” is a common enough occurrence that it is plausible to use as murder defense…

If Ray Lewis and OJ can get away with it in America, why can’t Pistorius in Africa.

Think of the royalties Oscar will get when he releases his “If I Did It” hypothetical account of the incident.

He can be found guilty of culpable homicide - max 15 years, 2 x discharging a firearm in public - max 5 years for each, and illegal possession of ammunition - max 15 years

lol typical tard. ray lewis never murdered anyone, he obstructed justice. so he didnt get away with anything.

I trust you know the prison is known for rape from personal experience?

The saddest part of this story is that there is one less HCB walking on this planet. Which makes it a little more difficult for the rest of us to meet one.

reading more details on the culpable homicide verdict it kind of makes sense. the prosecution fucked up pretty badly

The whole judicial system seemed out of its depth.

No, common sense.

Are people in prison open about these experiences? You know how you go out with your buddies and you talk about all sorts of stuff? When ex-convicts go out, are they like “Hey you guys know that Blade Runner guy? Yeah, I banged him”.

Jaco Pistorius is the only Pistorius I know. The dude was a beast on the bass.

I think that’s the overall take away for the international community regarding S.Africa since the get go.

Anyone remember the translator debacle?

I wonder if any prisoners have a foot fetish…

There’s also no jury in South Africa. So basically, one old guy decides if you are guilty or not. Actually, come to think of it, this might not be worse than just getting a bunch of random people to decide.

Now that I think about it, it must be pretty hard to prove without reasonable doubt that Oscar did not actually think that there was an intruder. The story is silly and I don’t believe it at all, but I can see how it can be hard to disprove it.

There are frequent “Ask Me Anything” threads on Reddit featuring ex-cons. Almost all of them have said the same thing; it does happen but not nearly as often as we think.
