Not sure how to post picture, but below is the result of one of the ppl I know. I believe for those who passed, NOBODY is worse than him !!! Alt Inv - C Cor Finance - C Deriv - C Eco - A Equity - C Ethics - B FRA - A Fixed Income - B Portfolio - C Quans - B I still not sure how he can pass…
his/her matrix might look more horrible than yours but probably has a higher total score than you… matrix doesn’t mean much except a way to tell how you’re doing in each subject area.
According to my spreadsheet, this person’s max possible score is 67%. It’s such bullshit that one or two lucky guesses can make the difference between passing like this guy and failing band 10… That’s life I guess…

Exactly. Sure, a person can get below 50% in an area, but that doesn’t mean he/she totally bombed it. Perhaps she got, say, 49%, and did really well in the >70% column, such as 90%.

You might be right… He should be scored the highest in each cat (A/B/C).
FRA saved him
woo, similar like what I did last year and I passed. Sort of miracle…
My max score based on my matrix was 77% min was 40% and average was 59%.
Yea, my sheet says max score is 67.5%. Guess we know MS is below 68 then haha
Here is something similar: I checked max score and it can be max 81 points out of 120: (which is 67.50%) PASS Topic Max Pts <=50% 51%-70% >70% - Alternative Investments 18 * - - max 3 - Corporate Finance 36 - * - max 8 - Derivatives 36 * - - max 6 - Economics 18 - * - max 4 - Equity Investments 72 - * - max 16 - Ethical & Professional Standards 36 - * - max 8 - Financial Reporting & Analysis 72 - - * max 24 - Fixed Income Investments 36 * - - max 6 - Portfolio Management 18 * - - max 3 - Quantitative Methods 18 * - - max 3
Yea with a big enough sample size, I guess we can determine the MPS!
so far thats the lowest ive seen. I thin kits safe to say that if the max score in that is a 67.5%, the test taker did not actually score that. So MPS must be in low 60s? Anyone seen any other score breakdowns that are similar?
diggles15 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Yea with a big enough sample size, I guess we can > determine the MPS! i would totally think so. given enough sample of low scores we can estimate the MPS range
Unfortunately I’ve got nothing better to do… Let’s dig out all the band 10 fails and rough looking passes to come up with a MPS range. Wish I had something more productive to occupy self with…
SFA, i actually started looking around the forums trying to do this. Its very hard, but if we get a sample big enough we could get a tighter range. The problem is ive seen band 10 fails where the highest score is actually higher than some passes.
btw, there is no violation for doing this right? haha ive become so paranoid i want to make sure.
Haha wtf c at equity and get it. Did he get 72 at fra or what!!!???
Spanishesk Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > btw, there is no violation for doing this right? > haha ive become so paranoid i want to make sure. HAHA! yeah I know what you mean. Don’t poke the beast… The ‘big enough sample’ is the issue. Also, I’m sure a few of these tables are doctored [which is a breach btw people :-)]. I’ve got some free metrics software (gretl) so I’ll have a think about a model to estimate the MPS. Maybe a probit model???
Mine seems like it was a pretty close Pass. Ethics must have pushed me over the edge… I’ll take it though! - Alternative Investments 18 * - - - Corporate Finance 36 - * - - Derivatives 36 * - - - Economics 18 * - - - Equity Investments 72 - * - - Ethical & Professional Standards 36 - - * - Financial Reporting & Analysis 72 - * - - Fixed Income Investments 36 * - - - Portfolio Management 18 - - * - Quantitative Methods 18 - * -
How could this be Band 6: Item Set Q# Topic Max Pts <=50% 51%-70% >70% - Alternative Investments 18 * - - - Corporate Finance 36 * - - - Derivatives 36 * - - - Economics 18 * - - - Equity Investments 72 - * - - Ethical & Professional Standards 36 - * - - Financial Reporting & Analysis 72 - * - - Fixed Income Investments 36 - * - - Portfolio Management 18 - * - - Quantitative Methods 18 - * - if the following person genuine passed as s/he claimed, given both failed Ethics, Equity, FI, PM, Quant at 51-70; and Econ and Deri <50? The passed even got <50 in PM and Quant while the failed got 51-70. The passed got 70+ in FRA, while the failed got 51-70. Does FRA become the 2nd criteria after Ethics for automatic pass/fail?
