Does anyone know of any recruiters specializing in recruiting candidates of the CFA curriculum? Planning to start actively looking for a change in my workplace. biddu_03@yahoo.com

I am definitely looking out for a career change. I have heen working as a senior credit analyst for small community bank in indianapolis for for over 4 years. I have a MS in finance coulpled with my Level 3 candidate. I would love to take a look at the Chi City ( or Windy City) whatever you want call it “Chicago Baby”, this where I want be. Would you please give me some advice dudes, gals too Please email me any thought at: bjhon73@hotmail.com or respond to my post. Thanks folks, you have been there for me for a while, now it is time for you to move me out of the NAP TOWN, I do not want to stay here anymore.
checkout glocap (glocap.com), or just start applying for jobs on hotjobs, efinancialcareers or careerbuilder and they’ll find you. Given the current environment though, don’t expect them to be knocking down your door though…
thanks very much dude.
What is your total comp?
Anything above/ around 70k will be fine with me. At least for now.
I guess that’s reasonable. Just try not to lowball yourself, I had a friend who had 5 years of trading experience with a top-tier investment bank and recently got his MBA and told people during interviews that he wanted to make $55,000 a year, everyone thought he was joking.
Wow! Where did he get his MBA ? Chez Joe Blow. Even my Credit Analyst Job pay more. I have a master in finance from University of Illinois coupled with my Level 3 candidate. I guess you never say never, But unless the economy blows-up I do not see myself getting that low. But I guess his wife may make $100k+.
Thank you folks … help and comments deeply appreciated… more feedback welcome
I would not recommend glocap at all. If you ever suspected that your headhunter was working against you your suspicions would be correct with these guys. I used to work for a company that used them and when I joined I promptly worked to cancel our contract with them. They employ very junior people who have never worked in the industry and use a very mechanical screening process that often weeds out the best candidates for a job. Then they send multiple candidates in for the same position; you’re essentially competing against other glocap applicants, and they don’t care which one of you gets the job as long as one of you gets it. When it comes time to negotiate a compensation package they are most definitely on the employer’s side, not yours. If you hassle with them they’ll just send someone else in and you’re out of luck.
farley’s comment is dead on, particularly with regard to the screening process. employers using glocap give general descriptions of what they are looking for, but if your resume does not EXACTLY match the description, then you get screened out. if they say they want someone with two years of experience, you better have exactly two years of experience (1.5 or 2.5 ain’t gonna cut it). it’s a stupid process, but i guess they have to have some method to weed out the 1,000 people they claim apply for each job. personally, there are much better recruiters out there. farley013 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I would not recommend glocap at all. "personally, there are much better recruiters out there. " mind naming a couple?
i’ve had good luck with robert half. you could also try fin recruiters – heard good things about them from several friends. http://www.roberthalffinance.com/ http://www.finrecruiters.com/ i think basically any recruiting company that lets you talk to a real person is 10x better than simply firing a resume off over a recruiting website.
Depends on industry. For hedge funds the best ones are the niche headhunters that specialize in alternative investments.
I am expecting $250K +
robert half here in london have been good… steer clear of Hays though… they are by far the worst I have ever dealt with… and many of my friends/colleagues agree
Glocap sux.
It was funny, I recently logged onto my account at glocap that I created about 6 years ago; my resume, cover letter, and other personal info was still there and yet they haven’t once contacted me in 6 years about any positions. Reinforces the idea that they’re not working for their candidates, they’re just churning people/resumes out as fast as possible.
