. . . with introductory remarks by Stephen Colbert:
I’m not a fan of him but that was hilarious.
Seems well suited to the complete circus that this election cycle has become.
Stephen Colbert for president!
I couldn’t get over what a disaster the speaker lineup was. Antonio Sabato Jr.? Scott Baio? I mean, that is scraping the bottom of the barrel in the worst way. This is at a national convention for one of only two major political parties in the United States. Scott Baio, my friends. Scott Baio.
^Don’t forget that Melania completely ripped off Michelle’s speech from eight years ago, almost word for word.
Then she claims that she wrote it herself, with no help whatsoever.
The choice of Scott Bario is puzzling, given that they could have chosen from any number of more prestigious Scotts, including but not limited to Scott Bakula, Scott Stapp, or even Sean William Scott.
Don’t forget Michael Scott…
No love for Scott Hall?
Yo!
That clip was great. I love Colbert.
I actually saw Scott Stapp last weekend.
To paraphrase Higgmond: Trump supporters won’t care.
Agreed, there is an astounding correlation between being a Scott in “Hollywood” and being a Z-lister.
Trump lined this convention up like an episode of The Apprentice – washed-up also-rans whose prime was in the 1980s, and even then, in their prime they were C-listers at best. I kept expecting to see Corey Haim step up to the podium…
Corey Haim died six years ago. =(
Im sure per Trump they are “the best” “really just terrific” “unparallelled in their fields”
JB – Geez, I didn’t even know that…which kind of, you know, makes the point even more…
Well, you’re exactly right, there’s no doubt. I mean these guys are really, really smart Z-listers, and look, unlike Crooked Hillary, these guys have had to endure hardship and know what it’s like to earn a living. I mean, Scott Baio isn’t going down to West Virginia coal mines and putting padlocks on the gates, right??? Who is??? That’s right…Hillary Rodham Clinton!! USA! USA! USA!
Nice, finally a post from you can I thumbs up.
I’m already sick of hearing Trump’s speaking style (you can totally hear him saying the above). The guy just babbles nonsense, hostile, cutting off anyone who questions the bizarre statements. Don’t they screen candidates for mental illness? He’s got something seriously wrong with him – mania, anger management problems, narcissist PD, psychopathy (probably a mix). Really.
LOL well done. Was it higgmond or Palantir, forget exactly
I think you may be misunderstanding. Responding to comments about Hillary doing or saying something wrong, Higgmond would condescendingly remark that Hillary supporters won’t care. I simply reversed that here to point out that supporters of the candidates from both sides of the aisle can be accused of having blinders on, although I suspect that Higgmond and most everyone else on AF knew that already.
The convention itself probably has limited effect on Trump’s public image. It reflects on the state of the Republican party and Trump casts himself as an anti politician. There might be some consequences from a poorly run convention on upcoming congressional elections though (if people still remember this).
The Melania plagiarism issue is more consequential to Trump. It calls into question Trump’s ability to run a quality orgnization and to choose qualified experts to accomplish his numerous tasks. The speechwriter was hired by the Trump campaign, and was not fired for this mistake. The speech also raises questions on Melania’s integrity and honesty, since she claims to have written the speech herself, and Trump’s by extension. The Hillary Clinton campaign will be sure to include this in countless promotional materials.
I disagree that all Trump supporters cannot be dissuaded by mistakes like this. In addition to solid Republican voters, Trump must rely on the votes of some people who “would not otherwise cote Republican”, and it will be harder for him to do this if he makes mistakes in his campaign.

Yeah but Trump has been doing this (criminal incompetence) since the 60s, why would these Americans who love him be botherer by it this time?
