RNC off to a flying start . . .

That’s what I keep thinking. Trump’s own “make America great again” slogan, assumes America is not great anymore. And his popularity confirms around 40% of the population believe that, and are already desperate enough to bet on a high risk “solution”. This is a significant realization, I figured they would never admit the decline!

Also as I keep saying, there are eerie similarities with Germany. After WW1 Germans knew they sucked, the decline was obvious, Hitler told them they could be great again, exactly like the “American exceptionalism” speeches at the RNC, because “they deserved it due to nationality/race”…and blame the Mexicans, or the Jews, or the Chinese, or the Blackies for “holding them down”. It’s not a good situation. At some point the US will likely start a war in their desperation for the good old days…but that won’t work either.

What I wrote wasn’t a “defense” as I’m not a supporter of neither Trump nor Clinton. I was just pointing out how blatantly one-sided your post was.

You said that it’s ridiculous that Melania’s speech was a big deal as Clinton has done far worse (which I completely agree with, for the record) yet you insinuate that Clinton’s debacles weren’t front page news, which is patently false.

You imply that Hillary isn’t fit to be president as she is a flip flopper, yet fail to mention how Trump exudes the same characteristics. My point wasn’t that Trump donated to Democrats (I believe he donated to Republicans as well) but that he has flip flopped on actual issues as well.

This message resonates especially well in middle class, blue collar America. These folks grew up witnessing their parents and grandparents always being employed, making living wages that enabled occassional family vacations, modest homes and cars, never worrying about putting food on the table, and resting comfortably at night knowing that their pension will kick in when it’s quitting time. This is no longer the reality in this country and people are pissed. It’s sad to drive past closed factories where prior generations worked and have to accept that those jobs no longer exist, at least not in the USA (another reason Trump’s trade bashing resonates as well). Moreover, they can tune into about 10 different TV “news” stations and hear politicians all day long complain of the ever increasing income inequality, but not doing anything about it.

I keep thinking this is Hilary’s win move. She CAN NOT be rattled as proven by hours of group interrogation with the pressure of cameras, Trump wouldn’t last one hour before slipping up. She needs a hot debate with Trump and bait him into losing control (not hard). One would think Trump could go too far, and even his fan club would disown him, although what would “too far” be for Trump!?

Anyhow, he clearly is not in control of himself. That 90s movie interviewed some people who were close to him back then. One interviewee said Trump used to say things after working off stage like “nice show right!?”, in an attempt to act like it was all planned so the troops don’t get worried, but dude who was there said he was NOT in control AT ALL. Makes sense.

Putin would push this guy’s buttons so freakin’ easy. Xi Jinping would enrange him with non-moves and non-responses. The guy is way out of his depth.

Clinton’s record, if anything, shows that she is self serving (like any politician). The Melania speech shows that Trump’s organization could be incompetent, which to some people is worse.

if the trumpster somewhow pulls this off the meltdown will be of epic proportion

Yeah, Trump is the one we should worry about.

See, people keep saying this, trying to act like Clinton is “just as bad”, therefore making it a “touch choice”, so they can debate (Americans love this pastime). And I just don’t see it.

Both Clintons are public servants , Trump is a self-serving maniac , the end. It’s not even a discussion. Bill was the best the country ever had, and Hillary IS NOT going to risk messing up that reputation. She’s great too, not as great as Bill, because nobody can be. But she goes to her little job, and she makes responsible thought thru moves, and they are pretty good moves most of the time. Really she’s the best 'Merika can ever hope to get. Americans just want a “dream candidate” that will never exist to “save them from themselves”. Cmon, get real people!

Well, Obama’s plagiarism didn’t keep him from beating HRC. Whole thing is fishy anyway. More to the story to come for sure. But, of course, an uncredited paragraph getting into a first lady speech is far more damning than not following laws in regard to conducting government business or demonstrating complete incompetence in foreign affairs. Have you met these “some people” you speak of? I wouldn’t spend too much time in their presence.

Our “best” president has a moment of clarity.

Huh, so Hillary Clinton wants to be President from the spirit of dedication to public service? Maybe have to agree to disagree here…

Regarding Melania’s speech - I am trying not to overly focus on this. First of all, I would not blame her personally. Like Michelle Obama, Melania probably did not write the speech herself. The issue is not that the speech was copied from another speech, but that they took the words from the wife of someone they have been demonizing, that the older speech came from the same context, and that the similarities would obviously be noticed. Furthermore, instead of just brushing off the issue, they said something dumb, like it was Hillary trying to damage their reputation.

So again, it’s not so much the action that bothers people, but the fact that they failed on so many levels while executing quite a simple task. It might not be representative of Trump’s whole organization, but it is an embarassment.

^Yeah, it’s strange. But, you’re right. So dumb, almost had to be sabotage. Or maybe it’s his marketing genius and we just dont understand. Could have predicted the attacks on Melania and figured some women will be sympathetic. …HRC used some of Obama’s lines during the primary against him. Maybe it’s hard to find a speech writer with half a brain. Trump certainly would not be personally checking the speech for footnoting. Nor should he waste his time. Fairly trivial.

No real big loss for Trump nation really. His polarizing character ensures that. People who are going to vote for him are not going to change minds because of this, and its not really like he is going to win the people sitting on the fence.

There actually is a theory that the speech was sabotaged by the Anti Trump Movement, and perhaps the speech was provided by influential people in the Party, which would explain why no one was fired.

DJ news wire – Speech plagiarizer Meredith McIver admits copied, “this was my mistake”.

The Trumps hired this person, cutting corners as usual, they approved it, then they blame the little guy (a family “friend” gets thrown under the bus). He’s been doing this for 50 years…more careless incompetence on the way…get ready to be the guy under the bus.

Yes. Why else would the Clintons go into politics? They are brilliant, could have made way more money in private business.

Of course it is, don’t be naive. How many more decades of a trend is required before it’s a trend?

No, but I’m definitely feeling the Johnson.

You are labeling Clinton as a true public servant? LOL. You are trolling right? Tell me how granting uranium rights as Secretary of state to a subsidiary that goes to a Russian controlled company in exchange for hundreds of millions of dollars to the Clinton foundation is the act of a public servant of the United States. She SOLD her power for money. You couldn’t be more corrupt

What can those with great reasoning skills conclude from this. She illegally “shredded” the record in the people’s interest? Help me to understand her altruism? She operates on such a high plane that I don’t think I can even recognize when she is looking out for me.

Yes, and no not trolling. I’m just pointing out how Americans have lost basic thinking skills. They always do the same thing. Since they can’t trust anybody in their lying society, they make up fears that someone who is on their side is against them, yet make up excuses for those who are clearly against them. It’s really werid.

As my Brit friends always point out, “Americans are so easily dupped”.
