RNC off to a flying start . . .

itera/Ghibli if you had your choice between Hillary winning or an Obama third term what would you pick?

In all seriousness I would like to see some threads from '07 about Obama. I can only imagine how some of you must have talked about him and what the country was going to look like. I can also imagine Putin salivating at the chance to have Trump win, he would play trump like a fiddle for sure.

It’s binary dude.

Either A) reckless, emotionally-unstable, unqualified, narcissistic dictator, or B) measured, cautious, career politician with an excellent resume. There is a correct answer here.

It won’t be so funny when excessive risk-taking goes wrong.

The Bern feels Her.

Is Putin funding Trump’s campaign? I think there’s far more logic: (take your pick of big wall street bank +special business interest+middle eastern country) using hillary like a puppet for the hundreds of millions they’ve paid for her campaign and her foundation. And using the fact that she can lie about everything and still get votes. Now that is far more amazing

Like it or not, there’s a massive movement away from the establishment. Whether it was Trump or Bernie, the trend of both these campaigns (before Bernie sold out because of politics), is that people the public WANTS to tear it all up. Change and uncertainty is painful.

Yeah except Bernie comprehensively lost to Hillary in both pledged and unpledged delegates. Would be especially ironic if Hillary wins it all. So much for “movement away from the establishment” if the Establishment wins it.

Did ya hear? HRC guilty on all counts!

Yep, if Chris Christie says it’s true…

I mean, that dude **AHEM** just bridged all those arguments together…

Not if the Bernie supporters refuse to support hillary. Then she’s screwed

Whoever wrote this speech for trump jr deserves a raise.

That’s exactly what I’ve been theorizing, it’s a deathwish. I think Freud actually called it “death drive”, a drive towards self-destruction.

But what Americans don’t understand yet; they are in the decline phase of their lifecycle, and there is no escape. There is down, and downer. Nothing new can be built until they reach the true bottom, and the bottom is a long way down kids. I have options in place and will make a mini-fortune!

^Assuming american decline, when would you say was the peak?

Hard to say, because there is no official line of course. But I would say 4-5 decades ago, the 70s-ish is when a lot of things turned down a dead-end road (rise of income inequality, increased corporate power, rise of the metabolic syndrome diseases, feminism and destruction of the family unit, national debt, etc). Decline phase could last decades or centuries, who knows (Rome died many deaths once past peak).

What’s unrealistic is thinking an old society is going to somehow magically return to “the good old days”. Not Trump, nor Sanders, nor anyone can do that. Best move is steady decline , but I expect Americans will do race to the bottom.

The 90s after the Soviet Union and the wall collapsed. It was a decade of peace and prosperity with no clear #2 behind America.

He’s sorta awkward when he has to stop insulting people and speak in full sentences. And it’s like he’s always on the edge of a mental breakdown or something, I wonder how many big pharma drugs he’s taking to manage all his issues.

RNC day two: http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/videos/2016-07-20/donald-trump-to-rnc-we-have-to-go-all-the-way

I think FT is close. I think the peak was probably right before the 2003 Iraq invasion. Since then we have overstretching of military plus reluctance to use it, a financial crisis, worsening income inequality. After Vietnam, the USSR failed and collapsed, giving the US default hegemony. That won’t be the case this time around. I don’t think Trump would do well in a country unless even its citizens believed in the decline.

does the Marla maple daughter not look like a fish? She definitely didn’t inherit her mothers looks

What a hilariously one-sided comment. You point out controversies for a person who’s been in politics for decades, and yet completely ignore the controversies about the other candidate, who hasn’t even been in politics until less than a year ago? Not to mention, most of what you mentioned about Hillary has been covered thoroughly by the press, on the front pages.

And I love that you call Hillary a flip-flopper as if to imply Trump isn’t. Again, chances are anyone who’s been in politics for decades has flip flopped. Moreover, Trump is the bigger flip flopper in the world. The man flip flopped on his party affiliation! He was a NYC liberal democrat for years! He used to be for the war, for abortion, etc.

Putin is obviously not funding it, but he will be able to rattle and get under Trumps skin so easily it will be interesting to watch. Putin is a calculating person and while he has done terrible things he is not at all stupid. Trump is a hot head and hasnt shown the ability ever in his life to be restrained. I do agree with your other post about shaking things up be it bernie or Trump and i do understand it from that aspect. The way things are going it may not matter who wins pres as we may be drawn into a conflict with Turkey with the rate things have been deteriorating .

Its crazy if you look at the last 4 losing candidates, I would take any of the 4 over either 2 of these candidates.

So your defense is 1) hillary has been in politics so long that lying and corruption is status quo 2) her long list of lies and corruption have been mentioned already so somehow we should all forget her issues. Yea that’s not the thinking of a mindless sheep at all. Trump is a businessman, you give political contentions to whatever party at the time is good for whatever business you are in. He was a Democrat in NYC? WOW SHOCKER! You do know NY is a blue stronghold right?
