Saudi Arabia Turns Down Bush's Oil-Output Request

I cannot believe I am reading this from future Financial Analysts. I seriously hope this is a joke. It doesn’t take an Analyst to figure out that you should not piss off someone who have: 1) Money, 2) Weapons. Fighting with anyone with the above 2 will result in a negative NPV. Speaking at a country’s perspective, it is unwise to pick a fight with a country who has 1) An insane amount of wealth and economic influences around the world, 2) WMD

I think the funniest thing yet is the person accusing kkent of being a yuppie.

> Speaking at a country’s perspective, it is unwise > to pick a fight with a country who has 1) An > insane amount of wealth and economic influences > around the world, 2) WMD Interesting…(although I “don’t” necessarily agree with the following)…I was thinking that these would be “precisely” the reasons to pick that fight and attempt to destroy them. 1. Take them out (or prevent them from reaching that point) so you have exclusive unrestricted access to that wealth and economic influence. 2. Take them out so that those WMD don’t threaten you.

to all the people expecting OPEC to raise their production just cause bush asked 'em to…which countries from OPEC would you suggest raise their production? 1) Nigeria…*buzz* incorrect Militants running rampant blowing up pipelines, a shithole country to begin with (having been there myself). they can’t even hit their targets, let alone increase production. i was talking to the manager for a large service company with a base there…he told me he spends $19 million USD per year on diesel fuel just to run the generators to keep power going in their offices (the local power cuts out about 30x a day). if nigeria hits their targets once in the next ten years, i’ll eat my shoe. 2) Angola…*buzz* incorrect See nigeria, minus the militants. 3) Venezuela…*buzz* incorrect Looney-toon running the country, punting majors and seizing their assets. Oronoco area is coming online with heavy oil production, but with the political instability who knows… 4) Qatar…nope Qatar does have a crapload of natural gas and condensate coming online with the North field, but they only produce about a million barrels a day now, and will peak out at 2 million a day by 2015. not alot left to find there… 5) Algeria…wrong again Production is estimated to stay flat for the next couple of years and then begin a decline. Alot of EOR already going on (tertiary production). They’d need to hit something big there to reverse that trend, and the issues they’ve had with licensing rounds have not made it easy to do new exploration. 6) Ecuador…uhh no. not even gonna discuss this one. can we say “already in decline”. 7) Indonesia - nope production is gonna remain flat around a million barrels a day and then head into decline, despite some uptick in East Java with Exxon. 8) Iran - nein. Inability to attract external investment, declining fields, US sactions = them not even hitting their stated targets, let alone increasing production. 9) Iraq - no. obvious reasons. 10) Kuwait - a little, but not enough They will increase from ~2 million boe/d to 3 million by 2015, but they’re starting to slow production from their biggest field, Greater Burgan, which produces 2/3rds of their oil. They have a mandate to produce these fields the most economic way possible, which means slowing production to manage it properly. (this statement pretty much covers all of the members). 11) Saudi Arabia Already planning to ramp up production significantly, bush is asking them for more…not really possible given their ambtious targets to be at 15 million boe/d by 2015. 12) Libya Pretty much flat production profile over the next 3 years until some EOR projects come online. Alot of their fields are 50 years old and need some work to bump up production. so ya…just cause you guys are ‘suffering’ paying $3.50 a gallon at the pump and your economy is in the crapper thanks to subprime, don’t expect some kind of miracle relief from a bunch of countries that are having problems maintaining production, let alone increasing it.

I dunno, jeff. Sometimes you can motivate people in aforementioned sh!thole countries by putting a good American boot up their a$$. “Well Mr Bush, we may have trouble hitting our targets” “Look Abdallah I can assure you we won’t have any trouble hitting ours”.

How about thinking that the USA Era is coming to an end…same style of the old Roman empire…slowly falling… To me Europe seem to be in much better shape…plus if people start to swith from Dollar to Euro…this is a warning signal…

The best days of America are still to come.

He he Joey, I wish…but unfortunately Europe is becoming stronger that USA. Note: Would be fun to see if the ECB would depreciate the euro… I would say… USA would go in deep recession. Plus… what about 2/3 of USA debt is currently held by Cina? Plus, all the top banks start to sell participations to Emerging market economy… (strong use of sovereign fund). Plus, a lost war… Tell me how all this situation will reverse…

Forget Europe and USA ppl, start learning Chinese.

Dezert… we need other 20 years until China will be a real worry.

The Dirty D, nice!!! Yeah, that’s the thing…those Newfs and Capers and us other maritimers are a wild lot LOL!

Nope…but we do have our own accent and speech mannerisms that you won’t find anywhere else. A common example you’d find in a rural area of Cape Breton or more likely anywhere in Newfoundland would be… Which way you to b’y? Meaning, “where are you going?” Honestley, some of the people in the small fishing outports on the Rock (Newfoundland’s nickname) are hard for me to even understand…especially when they’ve been drinking! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newfoundland_English. The fine folks that are working on the projects pumping America’s energy future in Alberta (and increasingly BC, Sask and even Newfoundland itself, which is becoming an energy powerhouse) are mostly Newfoundlanders and Maritimers…there has been the largest migrations of people from East coast to the west since the end of the war here. It’s pretty crazy.

WTF? nah son, regional slang. like how calling youre friend son because he shine like one intially came from new york, and whatever all those irish dudes from boston call each other, thank god my family immigrated to the west coast because that boston and bmore slang sounds like swahili to me. canadians do say eh alot tho…even westcoast pot smokin hippie protesters like me. same with dudes from the maritimes they have a very distinct way of speaking and body language, its as true for regions in canada as it is in the states. when i was in hotlanta 3 weeks ago they definitely did not speak the same way as fools in seattle and LA…they can cook up some good ribs tho.

I absoluetly disagree that all Canadians say eh…it’s very uncommon out here. I here it sure, but it’s definetly uncommon. There are so east coast words and phrases that we don’t even tough that one. I definetly think the east coast has the most distinctive language, mainly Newfoundland, which makes sense as they developed in a very independent manner. The thing I always found is that people out west speak slooowwww and pronounce words to properly, whereas we talk fast and slur things together alot.
