Second MBA?

Does top 5 programs allow people already have a MBA to get in? I alrealy have a MBA from a school ranking 20-30 4 years ago, but did not successfully get into IB or investment management, end up with corporate finance jobs, right now feels no easy way to do career switch. And I am 29, so wonder if it is feasible.

What makes you think you would get in this time around? And why would you want to spend all of that money?

Not for full-time, dunno about part-time. The schools’ websites usually talk about this issue.

That’s my friend’s plan and I don’t think it’s a good idea. The time spent at the first MBA could be better spent improving the resume I would think.

Harvard, NYU etc don’t allow people for their second MBA. Columbia does.

not good idea.

When I took my first MBA, I was too young, didn’t get a clear idea about all career path. sigh…

Jesus

I am sure it’s possible, although it is hard to get in unless you have a really really good reason. I doubt it is a good idea since there are other ways of breaking into IB (networking like crazy, for example) spending another 2 years and loads of money getting a second MBA sounds like a big waste of resources.

does U of P allow you to get your second MBA? I was thinking of increasing my credentials with a second MBA from an “online” program. With two MBAs, one online and one real, employers will frickin love me.

Why stop at the 2nd one? Dont you want to hand out a business card that reads Thommo77, CFA, MBA^3

Would any credit transfer thus making the 2nd MBA trek shorter? It doesn’t really matter, I think this is a bad idea.

As an employer, if i read a CV with two MBAs id send it straight to the circular file. What a waste of time and money.

Imagine there are whole other industries devoted to thinks other than IB or IM. People’s obession is border line crazy. Do people re-apply to Med school if they don’t become a heart surgeon?

Even a masters in finance would be better than 2*MBA. Beef up your connections. Just keep knocking on doors until someone opens one or you have to kick it in. The only real way to get into an MBA after an MBA is to supply an extremely convincing argument that your first MBA failed you greatly. Since you got a job, I do not think you have a good argument in the least. Sucks that things didn’t work out, I’m sorry that happened man. But trust me on this, another MBA is almost certainly not the right way.
