let’s hope the second time’s a charm

chamarr, ever thought you’d not be only one kicking ass in 2010. I think CFAI will be kicking our arse more. I’m cautious about taking this beast even the second time. But hey good luck to you and other pals.
Chamarr, I know one simple rule: the chances for the fail gows up with the number of trails. You don’t get more expierience on the exam; every year they find another way to rape the test-takers and chances are that you lost 4 times since you are not desinged for the success in the CFA. Your mind works another way. So next year you FAIL for 99%. But keep going, CFAI needs your money.
I’m in. Band 3, so I totally sucked. my studying landed between searching for a new job and family problems at home. But I have a job now, and I moved out. I’m going to give it my all. good luck to everyone. may the force be with you.
Great enthusiasm, and I’m glad that so many valuable contributors will be sticking around here for another year! Frankly, Platt and Zizou, while shocked by your outcomes, I’m extremely encouraged to have you on board. Now that we’ve seen what we’re up against, our results will have to improve exponentially. Comintoyaaaahaaaa!!! 18 study sessions 68 readings 484 learning outcome statements
I can’t over analyze this L2 exam any longer - this is too much - - but will be back on AF in November or December - - congrats to all that passed I like the CFA exams but that L2 thing was rough (especially after seeing the results??) . . . I’ll be back here soon - - peace out ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oh, we’re sinking like stones, All that we fought for, All those places we’ve gone, All of us are done for. We live in a beautiful world, Yeah we do, yeah we do, We live in a beautiful world, Oh, we’re sinking like stones, All that we fought for, All those places we’ve gone, All of us are done for. We live in a beautiful world, Yeah we do, yeah we do, We live in a beautiful world. Oh, all that I know, There’s nothing here to run from, And there, everybody here’s got somebody to lean on.
1stly, Hats off to u guys! PLease enlighten me(L2-newbie) how to murder this Maadaa…Fukgaaa in June 2010!
stay hungry phil. sooooo hungry. and start your alpha bravo delta call signs maybe a few weeks earlier? i am going to get involved with them- eff what level we’re all on. those fire me up like no other. there is one absent regular that I heard shockingly might not have made it above the pass go line this time around. i certainly hope he re-takes. this whole L2 forum will benefit if he does and i thank him a million times over for all the help he provided me this past year. you know who you are. thank you, thank you, thank you, sign this immediately and destroy it.
I’m in again. I knew I didn’t pass as soon as I walked out of the exam. I still stand by what I said awhile back, which was that the exam was very obscure and not representative of the practice exams. I did ok on the mocks (~70%+), but I don’t think I deserve to pass based on that. I just was upset with the lack correlation between the mock exams and real exam. This time around I believe I need an entirely new mindset. Lvl 1 is not a good proximity to use for what to expect on L2 in terms of difficulty. One of my biggest blunders on this exam was that I expected to walk into what I did for L1. A nice suprise that the questions were easy. I really have to know pretty much EVERYTHING. For example, the econ for the real L2, was a breeze… my problem was that I forgot all that stupid crap. I haven’t quite figured out how to approach L2 this time around. I put in enough hours last time, but its obvious I didn’t do something right. The quantity was there, but I missed the target on quality of studying. I will have to do some real thinking this weekend. One thing that def. comes to mind that reflects the theme I just mentioned was that I must’ve read the Schweser FSA book several times. I did fairly well answering the questions… but I didn’t really know the material like the back of my hand. I went for quantity of times reading the chapter, not quality. I look forward to some good discussion on Do’s and Don’ts for L2. I am finishing up a calc class (yeah, never took it in HS or college) and will begin in Nov. or early December.
I’m thinking of a two pass approach. Do a massive review from Sept-Dec, taking notes, doing practice problems, and re-reading everything. Then starting in Decemeber do one reading a day, redoing problems. That will leave me with two months for all the practice exams and random review material I can handle. Definitely using both CFAI and Schweser this time around.

There are a number of people I thought we’re going to LIII (me included) who will be retaking LII. I think the most disappointing thing is that I felt so good coming out of the exam; seeing my results this morning was a real slap in the face. It’s tough to tell your little boy that you’ve got to spend all those nights studying again instead of playing with him.
yow mi deya to bloodclaat
I’ll be back in 2010. I wish I got through this time around, but it’ll have to wait til next year. See y’all back here in a few months. Best of luck to all
