So about that first Democratic Debate tonight..

Just like she did when she was Sec of State?

Edit: And, again, that’s not the real problem. She’s going to be directing policy on a huge topic she obviously knows nothing about. Elections are about issues. The Internet is a huge one. Shit like this matters.

I’m 99% certain she has no knowledge of online security or privacy. Even if she wanted to hide stuff, security wise this seems like a poor idea.

If she can’t handle top secret information (in any medium), then she is clearly unqualified for the job. She is untrustworthy. The leadership she has demonstrated is that the rules don’t apply to her.

Naw it doesn’t matter. There are specialists for these topics to develop plans and make suggestions. Presidents are generalists , they may have one area of expertise like a law degree, or experience in finance, but for everything else they lean on specialists. Actually even in their area of expertise there is someone who knows more. It’s leadership and public relations, not specialized knowledge.

ok, be sure to tweet this.

^ LOL

You’re being obtuse. Is it intentional?

Look into SOPA because you obviously have no idea what you’re talking about. SOPA had the support of Obama (and presumably his “specialists”) as well as congress (and their “specialists”). It’s fairly clear whatever “Internet specialists” these guys have on their payroll don’t know much about the matter either.

Edit: Also, by your rational it doesn’t really matter who we elect as long as they look good in front of a camera and can represent the US abroad. The real issues will be handled by their specialists. That’s pretty much how Obama got elected. How’s that working out?

Hello? Maybe some of you guys don’t know how high up positions work.

There’s a lot going on in the US government, there are 3 million employees , everyone needs to do their job. All the work is handled by people other than the president, you can’t blame every little fuck up those 3 million people make on the leader.

But this is what Americans do, they argue and point fingers about everything, until they grind to a halt in total dysfunction…meanwhile Beijing is busy getting stuff done.

^You do have an amazing ability to deflect. You’d make a good politician.

You guys watching, it’s on Bloomberg TV, she’s really killing it. Everyone questioning her looks petty by comparison, vs her commanding presence.

This is EIGHT HOURS of free publicity where she gets to take her time on the questions, and show off her leadership. None of the other candidates get this much time to show off their strengths. I was only “Clinton because least of the evils” before, but now I’m a supporter.

Yeah, not a Hillary fan here, but she is getting free publicity.

I agree so far. Gen. Westmoreland Mr. Pompeo skewered her though.

You are forgetting the #1 rule of politics. We the people always lose. The govt will always be on the corporate payroll and cram whatever they want down our throats. SOPA will be passed one way or another unfortunately. If repubs have their way net neutrality will be trashed as well. Repubs did a great job of getting their base to go after net neutrality with the vast majority of the not having a clue about it.

Net neutrality is a very interesting subject. As a libertarian I oppose it. As a realist I have to support it.

It’s possible by eliminating net neutrality we would get more competition in the broadband space which would ultimately lead to lower costs and faster speeds. However, once you consider the barriers to entry into the broadband world, it likely wouldn’t happen.

I like this “realistic libertarianism” approach.

Agreed. In theory the markets work perfectly, in theory communism works perfectly. Sadly corruption ruins everything and the cable/internet providers have their hooks dug so deeply into the political framework of this country its ridiculous.

Verizon is fighting NYC tooth and nail to keep from providing more Fios by arguing the meaning of basically every single word in the contract. They are more than happy to take the payments, but not exactly welcoming to doing the required services. Then there is the whole issue with TWC paying off building owners to refuse to let Verizon wire their buildings which is such a shocking violation of anti-trust law that it shocks me. The markets only work when competative and the cable industry has done a fantastic job of drawing boundries where there are little to no other options, that is hardly competition.

I would really love Google to spin off their broadband service and maybe have other companies (Netflix, Apple, HBO, other content/web traffic creators) invest in it and see to the end of the cable industry. If Google Fiber ever comes to NYC I dont care how TWC tries to sweeten the pot, they are a shitty company that refuses to innovate. I had no issues with Fios when I had it in Astoria, but there was nothing special about it. I know they are fully capable of higher speeds at that price point and if Fiber arrives I am sure it will magically appear just like it has in Kansas City.

And this thread got boring fast, I was hoping for a nice flame war.

All government officials with high level clearances are briefed on how to handle government communication and secret information. HRC clearly chose to ignore those instructions. General’s careers have been ruined by far less. Underlies have been imprisoned for single violations. What should happen to Hillary? I say the most reasonable result is to make her President, obviously. Hell, Canada will now have a son. Maybe we can have a wife and then maybe a daughter. I’m hoping Hillary can help implement a one year trial period for all newborns. Constitutional protections would not be granted until the first birthday.

Lol really bruv?

Overreaction much?

Were you this worried when we “elected” a son in '00 and somehow AGAIN in '04?
