So any of the unemployed CFAs have recent luck?

It’s much worse off.

What are the cities with the least damaged job market? DC?

probably DC, Dallas, Houston, Jacksonville, Miami, and Austin I would guess.

Boston

I don’t think I’m making enough money right now to make that jump to such a high comp level. Maybe after a stint as senior managing director at Goldman Sachs I’ll be able to become a Fidelity analyst.

I’m pretty sure he didn’t put much thought into his list.

I got a new research role recently. MBA level. Things are definitely getting better out there–earlier this year it was just awful. Keep your head up.

Don’t worry, JTLD. FoFoFoF PMs at Fidelity make less than analysts so you may have a shot.

^good one

So what are the other unemployed CFAs doing?

i sometimes think it wouldnt be so bad to be unemployed. the only downside i see is that you will likely not get many dates. but you get to work out like crazy, catch up on reading, go for a run at 3pm, grow a mustache and a mullet. its not that bad.

The major drawbacks are the fact that it’s lonely until the point where you’re numb to it, you have no income, there is no such thing as joy, and there’s this persistent, nearly daily pressure regarding the future. Otherwise, it’s not bad.

You sound like a fun guy.

Unemployed is not so bad if 1). you got some cushion in the bank, 2). there is something you always wanted to do/try but have been putting off forever. And if you are en entrepreneur at heart, this actually be a blessing in disguise…

I’ve learned more, being willfully unemployed for the last 1.5 years, than probably in all 8 semesters of college.
