CFAI Changed their official policy (website), they now recommended pencils or erasible pens for Level III AM. They also sent the information in an email which also stated the policy change on leaving early from the PM session. Additionally, as mentioned above, the exam book stated you should use an HB or #2 pencil or an erasable pen.
I think they just don’t want you to cross out the answers you don’t want as some are probably too messy for them to figure out which ones are the correct ones.
Both AM and PM had average difficultly level but AM required very efficient time management. I did not get to complete roughly 2.5 case studies in the AM section as I ran out of time but I am very confident about the ones I did manage to complete. I also feel I aced PM section. Overall, I feel confident that I would pass but you never know.
Everybody’s assessment of the difficulty level of the paper depends on how prepped they were about the given topics. My assessment is based on the past 5/6 CFAI mocks that I did and found this year’s paper to be on the same level as those.
Have you taken level 3 before? If so, then your judgement will be better.
I found the PM section to be on par with the mock provided by the CFAI and end of chapter questions. A lot of questions were asked in innovative ways but nothing that can’t be done if you thought clearly about it.
Anyways, I hope you are right. It increases my chances of getting through.
36 in section I… or so I think…although most of the exam experience is starting to blur. You? I have a hard time estimating the number of L3 in ZRH, but it looked like there were a lot more than in previous years. I basically wrote in a similar spot as L2 but this time I was only surrounded by L3 candidates.
Comment about questions being asked in innovative ways is spot on… always impressed by the quality of the CFAI exams… If you look at the older AM exams like pre 2009… they used to include questions like “define enhanced indexing” (or so and so concept… )… now it’s not so straight forward which makes it harder
I was 73 or something, but I am I b/c I am a lefty and erased quite a bit and thought I might sat next to you. You are right, there were so many candidates.
The more I look on this forum the less confident I feel… and I didn’t exactly feel overwhelmingly confident in the first place… Still if the approximated date of the 9th is correct then its less than 8 weeks now…
Yea right? Same here, I felt great on L1 and L2 and also scored high on both. But this time… could still be a pass but I’m just not sure, and it feels awful.
I thought that the AM was not so hard except for the time constrain. As most ppl mentioned, I also spend extra 10-12 mins on the first question and then it was really hard to catch up. I used an erasable pen, which definitely slowed me down. I only skiped one 3 point question and was able to finish all other sections. Once I walked out of the exam room i realized that I answered 2-3 questions incorrectly because of rushing.
The PM section seemed to be harder. Some sections were definitely easier than the other ones; for one part, I had to guess 5 out of 6 questions. I think I had to guess 10-12 question in total, which is consistent with how many i had to guess on my sample tests.
