The Exam

Agree with most of you. AM was slightly easier, PM probably harder because of the fatigue. IMHO, Ethics was the part where felt uncertain on many answers…

Definitely the real thing is much straightforward than Schweser or Mocks.

Good luck to all of us.

I am in Aus so I bet the exams must have been different.

Seeing everyone worry kinda makes me worry too. The morning was tough with my exam and the afternoon was much more straighforward although certain people could be put off a bit by the more quantitative factors in the afternoon. The morning seems certainly more wordy.

I went into here to see how people go around discussing the papers given the pledge and the ethics part we might or might not have put a lot of time into it =))

I bet the exams are the same for everyone no matter where you are.

i mean they do have the same set of questions but would have been jumbled up and followed no order.

given the combinations, you would have so many different papers, see how they made a big deal out of having your answer sheet ID match your question booklet ID.

I have talked to my friend in the UK, mind you not in details, but she did give me the impression the questions were somewhat different.

I think I am like most of you and focused too much on specifics from mocks rather than the bigger picture.

Good luck to all you guys !!!

what about equity and corp finance? was it hard for you?

The cfai mock exam the pdf one was easier than the one we did on Saturday, I heard that it’s usually harder.

To be honest, my experience with the exam is quite contrary to the AF consensus.

  • I found it way easier than Schweser Practice Exams

  • I found it much less straightforward (sometimes I had to read thrice to just understand what’s asked); I am not native Engish speaker, maybe that played its role, too.

  • PM session way harder than AM

All in all, I finished each session in 2 hours and had 1 hour to review and check for mistakes and go through selected questions which I marked as uncertain after initial read.

On Schweser practice exams I scored from 70% (1 month before the exam) to 80% (1 week before the exam) so if passing score is anywhere near what’s written in the internets (like… mid or high 60s) I think I have some chances.

I really hope the MPS is around 65%.

And having read a lot of the speculation out there, it definitely has something to do with the top 1% scores. Think about it: top 1% scores a 90%, if you calculate the MPS as 70% of the top 1% scores you’ll get 70%*90% = 63%.

Any thoughts?

Oh come on, please go out there to enjoy your relaxing moments or watch good movies (many good ones are released these days) instead of staying here to guess this and that about The MPS. Still about 60 days to go :). I am still off work today because I have not recovered from the intensive and tense studying time. I was sleepless during 1 week b4 the exam :(. Once I get back to work, I will not come here because there are a lot of things in life we need to focus on now. The exam is over… Relax, buddies!

I need to prepare level 2 now

Well this is really strange to hear that even after scoring 70+ in ethics,FRA and Quants you did not pass just because of FI and Eco…

I really hope the same. But,if this is the case, then in my opinion most of the students will get through LI!!

This can’t be true, that definitely would not be a fail… He must have scored under 70 in one of those sections at least.

I think we’d be surprised with the passing score if we ever were able to find out how it was calculated

I also think the same.If one gets on the border line then Ethics Adjustment factor comes into account. So even after scoring 70+ in ethics its really hard to believe that one can fail.

i thimk imma score over 70% in all except ethics…m not sure about equity nd eco…its like ill score close to 70% in them…
