goal of the year?
I almost spat out my Stella when that Jagielka screamer went in.
looking forward to seeing Liverpool getting pumped by Real tonight…
Similar to what Bayern did with Roma??
Bayern really with outstanding play, my team got 6 from them last weekend…
^Seriously what’s happening to your team?
No money! A lot of money was spent for the stadium (higher than expected steel prices), the squad was expensive due to older success.
Now the coach (who obviously is not able to pick the right players!) works with guys who were available for free in the last transfer window. And those guys can´t keep up with the other teams. Seems will be playing one league lower next season…
I’m loving how Alonso is breaking all these records at Bayern.
Real were crazy to ship out Alonso and Di Maria this year. hope they get blown out of the water in la liga and the champions league this year.
On paper one would expect Liverpool to get thoroughly spanked tonight. That being said, they seem to have a unique love affair with Europe causing them to raise their game.
It will be an interesting watch and hopefully Balotelli could do us the courtesy of showing us why he is rated so highly.
Just saw the highlights, match was over in the first half. Interesting goals…
what a goal from Ronaldo, clever pass from James and a brilliant finish.
I wonder who will finish up their career with that CL scoring record. My money is on Ronaldo and whatever total he or Messi get to I can’t see it ever being broken.
Was pissing myself at all the Scousers being interviewed before the game saying that they’d raise their game for Real and anything could happen with their European experience from decades ago. They were dreadful and I don’t think I’ve ever heard a more muted crowd than in the 2nd half of that games.
Saw this tweet today
“Congratulations to all the Liverpool supporters who impeccably observed the 70 minutes silence at Anfield last night - I don’t know who died since last week but he must have been one hell of a guy!”
^ROFL…welcome to the big leagues.
As a Pool fan, I saw this loss coming. RM are just too good for us to win or even tie. I was just praying it wouldn’t be 0-5 at home. This isn’t bad but a win in my books. BR is just out of his depth, as I’ve been saying for 2 seasons.
And that tweet is gold. I should be offended but it’s just too good.
Out of curiosity, were you saying the same when Liverpool were on the brink of a title last season?
Biggest game today - Liverpool - Real
On paper Real should pwn Liverpool, but I think they are more vulnberable than they look. Their wingbacks push all the way up, and their two DMs are really creative midfielders in Kroos and Modric, plus I don’t rate their CB’s in Pepe and Ramos. I bet if Liverpool plays a front two, they could keep the CB’s occupied 1v1 and they need to have the wingbacks push all the way up to pin back Carva and Marcelo, which also implies sitting one DM deep, that midfielder cannot be Gerrard!
But I don’t think BR has in his DNA to play that kind of counterattacking game. I think when the time comes, Chelsea will take Real to the cleaners…
Liverpool were awful against Real at Anfield. defensively frail and all over the place.
I’m hearing that Gerrard is going to be rested so they might have a more mobile option in defensive midfield. I don’t know how BR will play up top, Ballotelli clearly can’t do that on his own but it’s not like they have many options at the moment. If Sturridge was fit it would be more of a contest tonight.
Real could come unstuck against a more clinical team like Bayern or Chelsea. I’m expecting a few Chelsea smash and grab nights in Europe again this year.
Chelsea are the only team in the premiership to actually stand a chance against RM but still, I can’t see them winning.
N/M…Looks like BR is resting his starters…should be boring.
The 2022 Olympics That No One Wants Is A Massive Headache For The World Cup
http://www.businessinsider.com.au/2022-olympics-scheduling-world-cup-2014-10
was quite a good game in the end, they did better in performance and scoreline than the A team at Anfield so it looks like a good call from BR.
I get the whole point about it being a headline fixture and the fans travelling to Bernebeu expecting to see their team go for it but at some point Liverpool fans are going to have to accept that they are no longer in the the European elite, they’re not even in the domestic elite.
Kroos and Modric in centre mid is just pure silk.
