Thoughts on these MidEast Embassy Attacks/Protests?

Are they ironically perpetuating the very same violent stereotype that got them purportedley so upset at in the first place?

I read somewhere that the murders were for the revenge of some second in command of alqueda ??

Either way I’m disgusted with these people. This is just like that whole situation of burning a printed copy of the quran here in the US a while ago . And literally because someone here burned a printed copy, some US embassy was stormed into and people who had nothing to do with it were murdered just because they were local nd American.

Those killers should be hunted down. Protest all you want, but what they did is F’ed up

I think they are just hipsters tryign to be ironic…you know, protesting the portrayal of Islam as violent and then storming a US embassy and killing an ambassador in another. So ironic.

That sounds kinda like the whole situation of 9/11 from a decade ago or so. And literally because some evil terrorists brought down WTC, some Arab country (Iraq) was stormed into and people who had nothing to do with it were murdered just because they were Arab and looked like the Taliban.

It’s blatant irony. I do hope they realize that.

Also, I’m not sure what the employment situation is like in the mideast, but I would love to be able to leave the office whenever I want and throw rocks at things all day.

Hmm. That is a good point. The Iraq thing was about stuff other than 9/11, but still it was pretty unjustified.

Actually, because some evil terrorists brought down WTC the US leaders had a STORY they could sell to invade Iraq and kill people there. That was the dumbest war ever and it was started for weird reasons. On paper, even with WTC attacks, attacking Iraq made/makes no sense. I will be interested to see how history views the Iraq war two decades hence. Iraq wasn’t a random emotional response, although US leaders played on the public’s emotions following 911 to get it done.

Anyway, book burning <> equal killing people, or I would be in prison after finishing level 3.

Truly a clash of values. In the West, nothing is held above criticism, and in these cultures, some things are held sacred to the point of violence. Personally, I have no opinion on the matter, just find it interesting.

To me, this reminds me of Zidane headbutting Materazzi. In the West, making comments about your mother or sister in a game is no big deal, but in Islamic cultures, they clearly sided with Zidane and thought the incitement was worthy of the retaliation he gave. (Although if Materazzi had made racist comments, then he would have been in trouble)

2 months ago 3 muslim civilians were killed in Libya. Our muslim presidents response was “wherever there are atrocities like this, america will be there to help” and quickly sent boots on the ground military, cia operatives to assist and train rebels to overthrow Ghadafi, and donate millions of dollars in cash and armaments. NOW, an american diplomat is killed and The Liar does nothing except make pretty speeches about what a tragedy it was. Maybe if the american diplomat had been muslim, The Liar would show the same kind of response he did for the Libyan civilians. obama has a total of 37 lawsuits going agains american states that he swore to protect and he has sent a team of lawyers to mexico to advise them on how to sue american states. And now he is running an advertising campaign in mexico media telling them they are eligible for food stamps, education and shelter grants in the U.S. obama is a treasonous traitor that needs to be impeached and punished to the full extent of the law for treason. which is death by hanging.

All accounts indicate it was a pre-planned attack by terrorists using incited rioting as a cover.

My take on the situation is that we never should have had virtually unprotected diplomats in a backwater location like that with documented violent extremists and previous assaults.

I agree, CFAvsMBA.

First off, you all must recognize that having God’s blessing is what made America a superpower. Now you have a US pres who wasn’t even born in the USA, and more importantly, he is a Muslim. He is sending billions to dollars to aid the Muslim brotherhood spread more hatred while millions of Americans are unemployed and some even without basic necessities of life. Mr. Pres apologizes to radical islamists for taking offence to someone’s right to freedom of speech in America, who in turn kills an ambassador to the US. He needs to be impeached. He doesn’t even represent the voice of the people and is changing the basic foundation of America. He is a liar and has the anti Christian spirit. He is using dead people’s social security numbers. If anyone else committed such a crime, we would be arrested. It definitely matters who is in power. We can not be ignorant of that fact.

They’ve already sent a un “Elite Marine Unit” to Libya in response last night.

I don’t want to sound like I’m not frustrated over these events. I couldn’t help but think the other night that maybe the Crusaders had it right after all. But when more of the facts came out it became clear that while there were non-violent protests carried on around US embassies (acceptable), the violent actions were pre-mediated and pre-planned far in advance of the video by heavily armed extremist groups that chose to use the protests as cover. The US shouldn’t have had those diplomats in Benghazi, really given the total lack of security and the hostile environment. And I don’t think you can really blame the POTUS for this either.

When I read about why (the film) I just wanted to smack that filmmaker upside the head. Nothing gets my blood boiling like some hipster indie film maker “documentarist” perpetuating hate on other peoples religions. And now there’s people dead because of it.

I didn’t really get too mad about that. Freedom of speech is directly under attack and needs to be exercised. Maybe I’m an idealist, but I think the first amendment is probably the most valuable.

I wish I had a job where I could just throw rocks at buildings and burn shit. Those guys have it all over there.

Nah I hear ya, I’m just equally idealistic in that people should be able to believe whatever they want without getting made fun of/discriminated. Its not the actual religion thats violent, its the people that interpret it in their own f*'d up way. And from what I heard the video isn’t even entirely about violence, it goes and straight out calls Mohommad a fraud and all that. That’s the part that gets me.

The problem in Libya is that a large portion of their population is a bunch of violent dumb asses. Any rational person would see that one Jewish extremist doesn’t represent the opinions of US people in general, particularly those who choose to serve in a diplomatic capacity in Muslim countries. Killing people because they insulted your beliefs is also an extreme overreaction.

^ It’s not just Libya, it’s Egypt too. Anyways, these terrorist attacks are well planned events, people dont’ just spontaneously do it to a well guarded building like a fricking US embassy.

Chances are the group that planned the attack was also spreading the video.

True. Heck, they probably funded the video with the Israeli guy.
