Yeah there is no question they love him. When you have a nation like Russia that feels like it’s been comprehensively humiliated in front of the world, they’re going to love a strong leader that has the huevos to tell the world to “**** off”.
Same reason in India the Right loves Putin. They love strong, macho leaders who will tell the rest of the world to **** off. However, no such leaders exist.
TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — A semi-official religious foundation in Iran has increased a reward it had offered for the killing of British author Salman Rushdie to $3.3 million from $2.8 million
For one thing, that clearly doesn’t keep up with inflation, or the rule of 72… Second thing, now more copies of the Satanic Verses will be sold to a new generation who never heard about it, and have no clue about the old fatwah on Rushdie. Rushdie must love this.
Anyways, time to go spray paint ‘KFC’ on some Kabeb Trucks.
Wasn’t 72 vigins a mistranslation? It was supposed to be 72 white grapes !..but then again with 72 virgins comes 72 mother in laws…maybe a bunch of fruits is actually preferable
incidentally…if muslim men die for some holy cause they get 72 virgins…in heaven, muslim women get their husbands back LOL
You are wrong, most Russians don’t like Putin. This may have been true years ago, probably during the time when you lived in Russia. This is no longer the case, people hate that scumbag.
Alucard, really? Independent polls and a recent election say that you don’t know what you are talking about. Do you speak Russian? I do. I visit it all the time. I work for Russians.
Sure there are “some” who really dislike the guy. But by and large he’s liked and respected. As I said, more popular than Obama. Yes, his popularity has waned somewhat. Four years ago he was almost universally loved and adored. But the guy is still very popular. Furthermore there is no real opposition so he’s not going anywhere until either he decides to go, or his own cronies decide to take him out.
Yea, it’s my first language. I also have relative in Moscow and this is how it is, most people don’t like him. Putin was liked when he first became president years ago but now he is hated all over man. You are right that the opposition is retarded and there is no one who can really challenge him.

Independent polls and a recent election say…

This made me laugh… There is no such thing as independent polls in that country, shit is manipulated as was the recent election. Everything is polluted there, the country needs major cleansing.
Putin was really a step back for Russian democracy, but was Russia really ready for Gorbachev and Yeltzin type of democracy after 70 years of communism?
There are a lot of people who dislike Putin, especially in Moscow, but it is hard for me to say if this is the trend outside the city.
