Although I do not recall at this point whether the question said anything about a “phase” versus a “stage,” it definitely referred to a specific company, not an industry. And based on the CFAI text, book 4, page 310, there are several parts of the “transitional” phase that match information from the question exactly: Earnings growth is slowing Earnings growth rates may still be above average or above the overall economy The company is initiating/increasing its dividend Gotta be transitional. imho, i think for all those “ambigious” questions on the exam, cfai should list them and give us the reasoning to their answers when they return our results.
