Triathlon training thread and Race Schedule / Results (KMD's stomping grounds)

The goal should not to be the best. But to be your best. And even then you could just do it as a social thing. I went to a few of these cuz I was invited, didn’t really even try my best, just wanted to holler with friends.

I don’t like some age group award ceremonies for certain races. A 70.3 is not one of them. 3rd is amazing!!!

Thanks ACE! You really would fit right in with triathlon. You have the perfect attitude for the culture…serious P.M.A.

omg yeah had a blast today - - - high fiving everyone, boxing moves/sidesteps are a must, bicep flex for hot chicks, and the jacked up rasta socks on the bike ---- made a lot of people smile today … thats what its all about Soooo many bikers were like ‘nice socks, nice socks, I like your socks, hahahha those socks!!’

and then there was this girl next to me - we were talking for 10 mi or so passing each other - and she was like these people are gonna start cheering for your socks again up ahead.

And they did. Again and again. lol. I guess I was the only one to wear real bright socks … I thought about going no socks like I did in the past, but I trained in socks, so kept them on. I was about to use headphones, but it was taking too long to setup and my T1 time shows that, but I got some good rest in T1, which may have been beneficial. Glad I went without them. Thought I would get bored. I did not. Its great to interact with people. It makes their day better / your day better. Also, I danced to every song on the bike or in the running. Eye of the tiger came on in the run and I was doing all sorts of crazy moves and fist pumping - haha - people in the crowd were getting real riled up. Love it.

Congrats all. The only way I’d ever get a third place age group award is if I ran a 3 person race. Nothing to sneeze at.

This is what gets me out of bed at 4am to run (shirtless) every morning.

thanks ihihm

KMD, you get your pix yet, Ms. Rockstar?

ugh. I talked to so many triathletes this weekend. Based on my training habits, a handful of them told me I was going to do a full Ironman. Some 40-50 year olds. I have been thinking about their surety. They said it with such confidence, as if they had been in my shoes before. I saw some competitors that were old. Real old - like 70 or 75 hanging with me on the bike. I mean holy fuck. Thats amazing. These races are so inspiring. But, yeah, I don’t know maybe I’ll do a full one day? I think I’d just do it for fun or something if I did it. Not so much to get a certain time, but it would be nice to do Kona. Whats up with these aid station foods? Are pretzels and coke really good for you in endurance? Or do big brands just push their way into Ironman space for marketing?

Its funny, my macro strategy for this race was bike-bike-bike for a swim-bike-run. Strategy for 1 mile? bike-bike-bike. lol. It really worked though. I mean I wasn’t really tired at all on the bike and felt like my time was decent. I’m probably not going to train for the next 70.3 in New Orleans in much running or swimming. I like this bike-bike-bike strategy and can pair it up with MMA/boxing pretty easily now. My friend wants me to do a 50mi or 100mi Ultra Run, two weeks after the New Orleans 70.3, but I might have my first boxing match around then. So either boxing or running probably after New Orleans. I’m waiting to hear back from some of my coaches and have started to just send all my races to them as I need to line up a clear date as to when I’m getting in the ring.

ahha respect ace.

Sprint finish like a boss!
