The problem is that he wasn’t silent, as his poem would suggest, he actively supported the Nazi regime going after those other groups. Even after being imprisoned, he volunteered to fight for the Nazis and only penned his much celebrated poem after the war was lost. That is disingenous.
I made two posts there. The Muslim and transgender bans both actively target people that don’t fall in line with the GOP’s platform. They are both based on total junk, anyone can see through it.
There are still millions of Muslims here and they’re not getting rounded up, segregated, nor kicked out and the transgender thing is a military issue, not civilian. So, I do not see how those two examples can even compare with those referenced in the poem.

He said when you’re in duty and bullets fly by and youre clearing out buildings back in 2009 all that goes away…my brother said if the person is gay or transgender but is very good at what he does then he has the abilty to save my life and the lives of my men. but the president is taking that person out and willing to replace it with the second best. Well second best might work in the corporate world but not in the army. you just die.

I actually know a transgender who was career Army and got the bill paid for on the government’s dime. This person told me first hand that it affected his psyche and ability in Iraq. There was an incident where he freaked and pointed the guns on the friendlies (no one got hurt thankfully). He probably should not have been deployed there in the first place. Anecdotal, I know.
Bottom line, I trust the military to decide who it accepts and rejects.

not the military…Trump decided. Most infantry men and I am guessing most army officers (because they are mature and know the real life combat unlike the 18 year old high school drop outs who joined the army or marines for the heck of it) would agree that transgender or gay or not they need all men who have the guts and ability to perform when shit hits the storm. My brother is an ex army officer and he and his vet friends were appalled by the decision. I am not saying that all are pro trans and gay I am just saying banning 5% of the population means they are not fighting with the best on their side. And when bullets fly left and right the fact that the Lt you are giving orders to is gay never crosses your mind. you just hope this guys doesn’t choke and instead shoot on target with efficiency.
I sure hope that there isn’t another “war on drugs.” It is an unwinnable war. Just an enormous waste of resources.
