^ That was one of the most amazing things to watch. We watched it live at work. I mean Hildebeast is completely untrustworthy, but to be fair, if you trust politicians in general, you’re an idiot. Virtually all of them lie and say whatever they need to get elected and then crawl back into bed with their companies and lobbyists.
I think Plato had it all figured out 1600 years ago; democracy is near the end of the society life cycle…everyone thinks they are “too good for it all”, total freedom, the stupid equal to the wise, spouting nonsense…it’s chaos. And so tyrannymust come about to establish order.
Fast forward to 21st century 'Merika, that’s where Trump comes in, or whoever…someone must tell the unruly masses to STFU, and enforce that command with brutal tactics.
Republicans whining about Hillary on how corrupt and crooked she is are wasting their times. What they should have done instead is nominate someone that is not disliked by 2/3 of the country. This was a winnable election, very winnable. Rubio or Kasich would be up by 10 points; Bush, Christie, Walker would most likely be leading also. It’s not the liberal media’s fault, it’s not the Justice Department’s fault, it’s not Hollywood’s fault. Blaming anyone other than Republican primary voters is like a football team turning the ball over multiple times in a game and then blaming everyone but themselves for the loss.
The time to gamble on a candidate was in 2008 when there was no chance of winning. 2016 was the time for the safe pick. A wiseman once told me timing is everything. Nominating Trump is the greatest proof that you should always trust reason over emotion.
seems like majority of AF members are trumpers. I assume most of AFers are in the midwest or in the south either in the coal business or some back office custodian…beacuse here in nyc, overwhelming majority of finance people are Clinton supporters…Not all, including myself find Clinton likable but at least she is not crazy. Even in the upper east side is going for clinton…upper east side is the only part of nyc that leans ever so slightly to the right. not to mention all of the prominent HF, PE and asset managers such as blackrock and stone, soros, citadel, blue, gso etc are all leaning left. Trump gets elected bye bye incentive fees and tax haven for mgmt companies and offshore/domestic and PEs…and 40% tariff yay!!! this should solve the economy!!! oh and did i mention Hillary is in much better relations with israel and all other countries than Trump is? Welllll trump does have Russia on his side.
I wonder if some of the supporters of Trump in AF also carry AR15s, with bulletproof vests thinking they are in some Delta Force waving confederate flags. Yeah!!! 30 dudes in AR15s man military rifle with 16 inch barrel and eotech sight with 30 round 5.56 NATO std round in the mag and 1 in the chamber…31 rounds locked and loaded!!! For me this would not make me feel very safe for some reason…
but but but Trump’s children are so well raised…they are all tall, fit, blonde with perfect eyebrows!! Says a lot about the man in charge of that family!!! wait but Trump has said, he provides money and that is it…his wives and maids take care of the kids…his wives…which one? His current wife is wife number 3 and he has 5 kids from 3 wives…He publicly destroyed and shamed his first wife and blamed her for him cheating on a woman (wife number 2). Family man and sets great example for his kids!
I’m guessing you’re in your 20s. those of us who understand economics on the long arc of history know that clinton will perpetuate a trend that has reduced freedom and prosperity for more than half a century. we are consuming our capital stock and tightening the noose around the types of people who can create prosperity, a charge led by corporate and political elites under the guise of managing the economy to help the average schmo. Trump is probably no better, but he is at least a disruptor of the status quo, which the U.S. needs. I don’t pretend that he can fix anything but I like the fact that he will drive fear into the hearts of those who benefit from the current crony capitalist system (like the NY limousine liberals you mention).
I don’t care who wins – I’ll make plenty of money either way. but at some point average people need to realize they are being taken for a ride and the existence of trump is a good step in that direction.
Thanks for the mature, bit more constructive although lacking evidence from Trump response Turd. My question is how can a president really fix all these free hand outs and our slow, dumb, and big public sector? Similar to- we cannot blame 100% to Bush for the recession as we cannot give ALL the credit to Obama for the recovery (naysayers say the economy has not recovered but look when Obama came into the office GDP was losing 2% a quarter and the US was losing 700,000 jobs a month). Safe to say the economy has recovered.
But back to the point, F Roosevelt signed the social security act, Johnson signed Medicare and Bush signed the Medicare Bill and Prescription Bill, and Obama signed Affordable Care Act. So which one do we ditch? And what do we do to the people already enrolled and being cared for by these programs? Can 1 president really stop any of these programs or have the power to when tens of millions are enrolled?
Yes, you see too many EBT cards handed out to working age males who shop at whole foods at columbus circle…this is total waste…but if we get (stricter guideleines) too harsh in giving out for the poor, then there is a chance that the real poor and desperate family may not get any help…Similar to our judicial system - “It is better that ten guilty persons escape than that one innocent suffer.”
i was just being a dick with that comment. there was a time when individuals did not look to government to cure every hardship they encountered in life, which incidentally coincided with a much closer sense of community and neighbors helping neighbors. people have decided to outsource this function to government and the consequences have been disastrous in my opinion. people over time have become lazier and lazier, more and more self centered. they’re too busy chasing a paycheck to be bothered with helping anyone but themselves or their immediate families, so they pay government to do it for them. ever the opportunists, career politicians have devised infinite ways to skim off the top to increase their own power and wealth.
the result is a monstrosity that now only benefits the administrators and incumbent businesses. at the root, people have to realize that there are no shortcuts to prosperity. the average person also has to take a hard look at their concept of happiness.
anyway that was a rambling stream of consciousness, but there is a consistent philosophy somewhere in there.
