Trump Wins!

Outdoor people look more fun.

If Trump is to make America great again then first order of the day should be some sort of fat food tax that ensures girls like the one attacked on this video will not weigh 200 lbs by the time she is 18

It is strange that I was worried in the days before the election that Clinton would win and there would be a ton of militia folk rioting and protesting. Yet what happened is that Trump won and the left is going crazy instead.

However, there seem to be a ton of reports of alt-right types raising Nazi flags and the KKK is doing a victory march and people reporting all sorts of abuse. It’s tough to know what’s true anymore and what’s invented.

lololololololololololol

Interesting to see things developing. Not sure how trump is going to break from the establishment his transition team is all establishment republicans

Luffy that tweet is all that needs to be said about people complaining about protesters. Trump said he would queation the result, his supporters were very militaristic and now want them to stop protesting. They can protest all they want its not going to do anything, id rather sit at home and eat some oreos or something

For the “establishment” folks on his team: he’s been saying that politicians have no clue how to do these things (so who is left to do it?). Having a polysci major or a law degree doesn’t necessarily make you fit to do economic and fiscal planning. Honestly, I would entrust people with real world business experience to do these things more competently than most politicians (assuming we avoid conflicts of interest, which politicians have problems with anyway). It’s a similar argument as to why “business people” can be useful for hospital groups or non profit organizations (but again, assuming the conflicts of interest are minimized). There are certain skills you get by being successful in the cutthroat business world that many of these politicians simply lack. I’m interested how it will play out, as you said.

I think the biggest problem with these protests is that they are turning violent and dangerous (including destructive of property). The irony is that the left has been demonizing the right as violent warmongers while trying to portray the themselves as peaceful and accepting. If HRC won and people were behaving violently, it wouldn’t be so ironic according to the labels the left has given (although, still wrong). Seeing the “peaceful and accepting” left turn violent is why I think many people are telling them to shut it (and that the millennials are being catered to so they will literally stop crying) . That’s just my take on it, anyway.

Politics and business are intrinsically different things and require different skills and experience.

They are absolutely different things. I just think that understanding how businesses grow and operate would be important to a person trying to allow businesses to grow and operate (and I think a top-tier business person would have a better background, on average, for doing that-- what Trump says he wants to do). I understand there’s a lot more to it than that, but I wouldn’t be so quick to deny many transferable skills gained in a business setting for most people near the top (especially those who deal internationally).

I don’t think skill is the only limiting factor in today’s government. Even if government officials can improve the system, they would rather entrench themselves and create ever more positions for themselves and their supporters. This is why an outsider is needed to increase the system’s efficiency through cuts.

A few things,

  • I don’t believe there is a lot of skills overlap. Some, yes, but not a lot. As another businessman says, always invert. Would you trust Harry Reid or George W Bush to run IBM or GOOG? (I wouldn’t)

  • A President’s only job is not to grow businesses, he has a range of other responsibilities and so he has little personal involvement and rules by delegation. He is going to get bogged down in balancing healthcare policy, foreign and military policy, ISIS, all in addition to the economy and insulting fat chicks on Twitter.

  • POTUS’ power is badly limited when it comes to executive implementation of policy. He is not a dictator or God (yet). The US is not going to grow at China’s 7% rates.

  • What is true however, is that he will be a lot more sensitive to the needs of businesses, as you point out that is his background and his interests. Whether that means he is successful (or whether we want him to be successful) is a different matter.

It can growth at Nominal 7% GPD when inflation is @ 8%

Neither would I. I guess I meant more that skills from business overlap more with politics than the other way around (similar to the P(A|B) doesn’t necessarily equal P(B|A)).

I agree again that the job isn’t to only grow businesses (but just that it was a big part of Trump’s platform- to help business owners and entrepreneurs in a prosperous economy). The delegation and the experts a president can surround himself with are another reason why I think that a political background isn’t necessarily going to give you an edge. I think that a business mindset, to an extent, is beneficial when looking at how to deliver something like socialized healthcare (goals within a constrained budget, sustainability, etc). I also believe that most presidents will defer to their experts because that’s what makes sense.

I don’t think the US will grow that much, either, but I think we could get somewhere in the middle if we are able to bring jobs back and revitalize our economy, especially the middle class.

I agree that it’s up in the air and we will have to see how this actually plays out.

My overall point was that he said things that seemed pro-business and that the politicians haven’t cut it (so some pro-business outsiders doesn’t seem too crazy from that).

Of course, that’s not reasonable. But let’s remember Trump’s lifelong game; he makes unreasonable claims, he gets investors, he takes massively irresponsible risks and shoots for 7%, sometimes he actually hits it due to wild risks taken, and the rest of the time he loses everything and walks away.

That’s what is so scary about the guy, he wants to do Reagan level irresponsibility. BUT, it’s much later in the country’s life cycle, the credit card is already maxed, and the nation has entered its decline phase. A mega fail at this stage is the end.
