How do foreign women view american men. Since many images can develop from such a vague question, and since this is for myself, from apperance only, i would like to understand the concensus view surround new jersey style american men.
What is a new jersey style american man?
You mean like Jersey Shore? In general, I don’t think foreign people really distinguish between different kinds of US people. Every American is just grouped together in some stereotypical fashion. Maybe there is a different stereotype for black vs. white Americans, the former of which is modeled after Will Smith’s character in Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
If this is the future I predict our species will go extinct… probably very soon.
None of the guys from Jersey Shore are from NJ.
This thread is asking for trouble.
What all foreigners think of american men:
Yah i know, i’m in a rush so i couldnt spend too much time thinking of how to describe my question. I do want to deviate from the fat redneck sterotype and lean more towards the polar opposite (absent the blow out/ tanning).
KR your feedback is what im interested in (lea too).
^ Saw a few of those guys last time I was in Vegas.
You are gonna have to be more specific. Otherwise my answer is: “It varies on case by case.”
How incredibly pathetic is it that the rest of the world can’t keep up with that?

Whoa whoa whoa. Who does that woman (or is it a man) think she is? I personally landed all four Mars rovers (which for those who care are the only vehicles to operate on the surface of Mars for more than 15 seconds).

Isn’t that exactly what Americans think of everyone else? Except that part about Will Smith, he’s a national gem.
If you mean that Americans stereotype people from other countries, that is probably true as well. However, I would not be surprised if foreign people have generally stronger stereotypical perceptions of Americans, since the US exports more mass media than other countries. Before I came to the US, I had a perception of Americans that was shaped by TV and movies. However, if you asked me about people from some other country, like I don’t know - Swedish people, I would have had very few impressions to build on.
Also, following 9/11, depending on where you lived in the world, there was a tendency to view the US as some military industrial antagonist. Whenever the news mentioned the US, there were pictures of jets and soldiers, so these are the images that became associated with the US.
