And you’re not correct either, research associates talk to clients/reporters as much as the analysts from what I’ve seen. And they actively participate and even are encouraged to discuss upgrade/downgrade ideas.

FO: (makes fun of BO) BO: “What just happened??” (takes earbuds out)

It just seems that finance is full of geeks who, because of their low self esteem, cop an egotistical attitude as mask. In reality they are simply a bunch of one-dimensional try-hards seeking validation and trying to prove their worth on the basis of the size of their pay cheques

^ I’m not arguing against that. But a huge amount of people in BO want to be in FO and would rather convert into those people.

Agreed, the BBerg helpdesk sucks. people at BBerg are basically all BO. The only “revenue generators” are the people who sell terminals.

Hmm. I don’t know - BB help desk has generally been pretty helpful to me. It depends on the complexity of your question. They seem to have a second row of help desk people who have more specialized knowledge. If my question is very specific, I generally get referred to someone from a specialized group.

If you throw enough jargon at them they get confused and transfer yout to a “specialist” who usually has a good workaround.

Yeah, when I first started on BB, Help! Help! was awesome. I loved it, they quickly answered all my questions and showed me things I didn’t know existed. But once I got past the basic / intermediate user stage, I did find myself getting frustrated with help x2, even the specialists really didn’t know what they were talking about in several cases. And in a random batch of maybe 300 issuer names, I’ll find data errors usually in 5-6 calculated data points (they still refuse to send me a hat or mug). To be fair though, most of the problems I go to them with at this point are highly technical stuff I’ve been staring at for a full day with no solution, so asking them to just jump in is pretty unfair.

Rofl. This is funny because I’m interviewing for that position. Hopefully, I’ll be that jerk soon.

Which position?

Product Sales and Analytics at BBerg

The front office generally consists of client-facing responsibility. So in a finance business or investment bank, the front office section might contain sales and trading, investment banking, wealth management, and confidential equity. The back office is involved in the areas that don’t directly create revenue for the business but provide vital assistance and administration. The front office depends on the support of the back office to operate efficiently.
