Just out of curiosity. Who is taking them? and what are the results?
Can’t sleep. Too addictive. Can’t learn when I can’t sleep. I flushed about $1000 worth street value down the drain back in college, because I happen to have morals.
So, Adderall and a couple of Red Bulls is the new coffee now? Good I’m done with tests.
I never took any of those drugs. I am a mother of a two years old. but just curious. The only thing I take is one cup of coffee a day and omega 3 oil.
A crooked shrink prescribed those for me for “ADD.”
3 or 4 of my friends went down that path in college. ie went to docter “i can’t concentrate” and got addy prescritions.
They all had slight depression when coming off addy each time they took it, loss of appetite, f’d with social interactions, headaches, nausea, at least occasional issues sleeping. It also had a performance issues in the bedroom effect for one of them… which was enough to keep me away haha
It did help them study and destroy tests though. To anyone considering, read any “common side effects” as definite ones
Might as well do meth or speed, same effect with longer legs.
This is how 90% of my friends were able to get theirs.
I use focalin. I like it. It used to bug my appetite and give me jitters, but I’ve since lowered the dose from .5mg to >.25mg and no troubles with appetite, sleep, depression or boners. It helps me sit down an read for 3-4 hours straight.
Costco 5 hours. During busy season (high growth company with peaks each quarter, not tax) I be handing them out like nino brown.
Crooked parents took me to the crooked shrink.
I remember kids in college, including me, would pay $5 for a 10mg pill of Adderall. I took them occasionally to stay awake during finals but more often before drinking.
I’ve since been diagnosed with ADD. When I took Adderall I got 180 10mg pills (60 day supply) for a low copay of $14. I bet a lot kids are seeing the “crooked shrink” to become “crooked drug dealers.” What a profit margin! I’ve moved on to Vyvanse which is much better. One dose lasts 12 hours.
For someone that really has ADD, meds are a godsend. I can focus on the more tedious parts of my job (writing) for more than 10 minutes. Marriage life is better too since I’m not zoning out all the time when my wife talks to me. Funny thing about ADD though is that my brain goes into hyper-drive if there’s fire drill. It served me well during the credit crisis.
I was given Adderall when the doc thought I had ADD. It turned out that it was just sleep apnea. But I still take Adderall from a slightly sketchy doctor who will prescribe it to me.
I only take it when I study, and then, only a few days a week. If you take it too late, or too often, it will cause you to stay awake at night. It dehydrates me, and I have to go pee a lot when I take it, probably because I drink a lot of water. (This side effect isn’t so bad.) Also, when I take it with coffee, my bowel movements become…interesting, for lack of a better word. (It’s more comical than bad.) Other than that, I haven’t noticed any negative side effects.
I have noticed that it’s difficult to study when I don’t take it–like I’ve become dependent on it. But this is my last test, and hopefully, my last adderall-induced study sessions.
However, I’m not dependent on it for anything else (work, cleaning house, etc.), and I don’t experience withdrawals when I stop taking it, either. So I’m not really sure that it’s that bad of a thing.
I relied on them somewhat heavily to get through the exams. Adderall makes anything interesting. You have to sit down and start studying, THEN take the pill, otherwise you’ll just clean your house for 4 hours.
Overall, I think they’re bad and that most ADD cases are just people addicted to constant stimulation/distraction and their reward/pleasure citcuitry in their brains is fried. I took them for a few years straight and once I started to quit, getting off the couch was hard. In fact just picking which movie to watch on the couch was hard. I had very little dopamine activity going on, and I had never even taken more than 20-30 mg a day. I’d say it took a good 6 months before my brain reset.
Nobody has explained yet why coffee or tea isn’t an adequate stimulant for study in small doses, or what Adderall / speed / meth does that caffeine won’t do in moderate doses, and with fewer adverse side effects, to boot.
EDIT: moderation in all things, or is that just too old-fashioned?
Honestly, you guys need to be careful, these drugs are not far off from meth and speed you find on the street and just because you get them with a script doesn’t mean you’re immune to dependance.

Maybe adderall works the same as coffee and tea and it’s just a placebo effect huh… great point man
I had never even heard of it before Carlos Ruiz was suspended for using it. I always thought people took Ritalin for ADD.
^ haha, you’s an old ass man like me.
I take Oxypowder as a study drug. I feel refreshed, relieved, and clear in my head (mind like calm water).
