What's your life like besides studying for CFA?

…still quite impressive though…the maximum amount of foreign languages i learned at high school was 2 (counting English as one of them)!

in my country in high school we study two foreign languages english and french/spanish/german/italian you can choose. i chosed both french and spanish and then at the university i am doing all my classes in english and i nedeed one more language so i chosed russian because the level for spanish was too low and the level of french too high…so there are 4:)

in my school, we had to learn two foreign languages aswell. the main language was German…students had to learn English and could choose between French and Latin…I chose French :-)…for a short period of time I learned Russian aswell but only because our English teacher, an eastern european lady, was happy to teach the language casually in the afternoon twice a week…we were only 5 students haha…good times.

I study for the CFA. Then I go out to the bar and talk to the pretty ladies about CFA.

and do the pretty ladies talk back?

Mojo-just let your peers and boss know about the exam you are studying for. If the position is in a related field, they will probably give you some slack because studying will make you better at your job. If the position is not in a related finance field, then just tell them the scary facts (hours of studying, pass rate, exam content) and how it will benefit you/the company and you’ll probably get bonus points in the proving yourself department.

You’ll do great, just prioritize!

I still kinda feel that way Alladin, sorry to hear you’re having difficulties right now. I’ve been there myself. What makes you feel as if you’re unemployable?

What the hell is going on around here? I’ve been on this forum 3-4 years and have probably seen 3-4 female posters and now all the sudden we’ve apparently gotten roughly that many attractive females in one thread!? When did CFA become cool all the sudden?

Then again, I was thinking about it and if I were to start the program over, I would definitely post a picture of a hottie as my profile picture. I have a feeling there’s no shortage of academic help in those situations.

Again. Routine. Last night, studied in office till only 7pm. Boozed up at Dakota Roadhouse until 9pm. Made sure that I could rehearse the prediction error formula or ‘see it’ in my head while destroying my liver. Talked to some lawyer who quit his job, and was overzealous about the happy hour games.

Took the subway back up town. At my local, finally met the waitress’s father. We talked. She really wanted me to meet him for some reason. I don’t remember what she said when I left.

1023am. In the office. Feel FUBAR. Market is going down. I like that for my positions, but the bagholders of Facebook stock are manipulating it up. I need FB to go down below 18 within a few weeks. Got some time.

I need to adopt this strategy. My romance life is virtually completely non-existent. Even yours would be a huge upgrade.

Since I took L2 in June, I transitioned to studying for and taking my CPA exams.

The strategy. The blueprint to purgatory bordering on hell. Take it. It’s yours. No one will stop you. You will find the occasional Irish girl on a one year visa… or a lovely Ukranian or Slavic descent. The Russians, stay away from them. Make sure to square the standard error.

I think this thread is receiving so much activity because we want to remind ourselves that we still have adequate social interactions despite the hours spent studying. And to those that write out their schedule and see nothing but misery: change something. Life’s too short to not have any fun–and it’s good for your health to have some “me time” or a smart cocktail every now and then.

I shorted the sh*t out of FB.

Goodbye Dow 13000. Might have a down 100 day. Been awhile.

I agree, KS, this thread is interesting. It’s real, unabashed.

As for this website, it’s probably more valuable than Facebook.

Doubtful, given how difficult it was to get ahold of shares to short.

I’m short the 16/17 Sep Call Spread on FB. not looking good at the moment.

Hm…according to google? Haha, anyway, “I shorted”, “my dad shorted”, same thing since the profit/loss will be mine someday, right? Kidding.

But yes, black swan, you are correct. I didn’t physically do anything (not quite smart enough yet to get the ball rolling on something like that); but I do know he was hoping to profit from a decline after our discussion regarding the ipo and why I thought FB sucked–so I’m taking credit if it goes well and saying he shouldn’t have listened to a blonde if it is unfavorable.

From what I understand, he did something fancy that involved shorting. Then again, maybe he was just humoring me and I’ll need extra therapy now to deal with daddy lying to me. Thanks for possibly fast tracking that.

Daddy issues? Awe baby…

shit. I got nothing.

You could have sold short FB after the IPO, but you would have to pay insane borrow costs. Probably like 40% or 50%. Options trades are also possible, but the borrow cost would have been built into the option premiums. However, I doubt that ks or her dad actually did any of this.

I believe it to be a random walk with drift. If FB is at or below 16 on September 21st, I will be a very happy motherF.

You’re probably right, I usually don’t understand 3/4 of what him and his friends talk about so perhaps I misunderstood the entire conversation. It’s cool you guys care so much though.

40%? I don’t think so. This was a month ago. Or maybe? I don’t know. I will make sure to have thorough research, documentation and reports for offhanded comments made on a forum in the future, promise.

Appreciate all the feedback though! Nice to know others are procrastinating their work as well. But enough picking on me, what’s your response to the original thread? Or was this all just voyeuristic curiosity?
