ty for the upload. useful to have, even though i already carry the ebooks around on my ipod touch. update on where i am: done with first pass of ethics, economics, equities, halfway through FRA. starting to think i need to use up all my leave to pass this beast.
Update on where I am: Finished first read through, done all EOCs once. Remember little after doing it. Halfway through second read-through. Have done most EOCs, but am doing the EOCs for the study session lagged back one to help with retention. (EX: reading SS 10, doing EOCs for SS 9). Retention much better this time around, but there will definitely be areas I’ll need to re-read for a third time to ‘get’. Pension accounting, some derivative stuff, maybe some quant, etc. Mostly using Schweser, read through FRA, Corp, Equity, halfway through AI. After I finished my first read through I thought there was no chance I could pass this thing. After doing this, I’m only thinking that there’s a low chance I can pass this thing. I’m buckling down now, no more drinking nights etc. Would rather pass my first time through, though I understand that’s not that common.
I’ve finished reading all of Schweser notes 2 times now…I skimmed through the practice problems very quickly the first run through, and on my second time I did the majority of them (but still quickly)…My intention was to understand to material intuitively before I start memorizing formulas and treatments. I’m going through sections now that I feel as though I didn’t fully understand/remember with a plan for May 1st to do the 2010’s CFAI MOCK exam. This will hopefully give me a true feel of how much I know the material…If I do poorly, it’ll give me more motivation to study hard in the last month. From there on, I plan on working on the CFA EOC practice problems for the following 2 weeks, with then the plan on doing 2011’s CFA MOCK exam. I have a a week and a half off of work prior to the exam so this will be spent going over formulas and weak areas for atleast 8 hours a day i hope…!! I’ve been slacking quite a bit in the past couple of months, but am now starting to actually be productive i.e., not drink on weekends, and actually study at the library rather than talk with friends for an hour off and on Best of luck!!!
do you really read through the text book? I only did after chapter questions and sometimes read summary. I do feel I did not get funlly understanding of the material.
Hi magicskyfairy, Can you kindly send the notes to tejasd1@gmail.com. I will be really grateful Thanks…
Hate to jump on the band wagon, but I’m thinking those notes could really help my FSA. Could someone please forward to CFAADVICE@GMAIL.COM Thanks!
I haven’t read every post in this thread so I apologize if I’m reiterating a previous point; I’ve read the books, watched the review video’s through schweser (which i highly highly recommend!!) and am now taking practice tests. The thing I learned from Level 1 was that literally, no more than 25% of my learning came from reading the curriculum. A large majority of what I learned and retained came strictly from review. I certainly wouldn’t say to skip the books because at least having seen the topics before is what made the review so effective. However I’ve tried not to get hung up on the books and just make sure I got through them in a timely fashion.
Just finished all material. Taking John Harris FRA class this weekend. studying flash cards for an hour in the morning…doing all the EOC questions at night (3 hours during week…5 hours on weekends)from now (april 20th till probably May 13). Cleaning up things I dont know last 3 weeks…taking four mock exams (two schweser, two CFA). FML for the next 45 days…
Guys, could anyone please be so kind and forward me a copy of Magicsfairy’s notes as well?? seabreezeandsun@gmail.com Many many thanks!
Hi magicskyfairy, Please email me the notes as well: aly.somji@gmail dot com Thanks!
I seem so far behind. Last two months were lot of headache in office. So basically after Jan i have got time now to concentrate. Though i have done quite a bit of reading till Jan but feel completely out of touch with syllabus now. Anyways,I have planned 250 hrs on the overall study still (Schweser LOS + EOC+ Qbank only). Will finish book 1 by Monday (i started it from 14 april, so far so good). I am using my annual vacation for 20 days for this . I am worried already.I may not be able to give mock/samples though since I will be well under preparation till end of May.
i finished reading book 3 yesterday. i am hoping to finish all reading with 1 week for EOC questions and 2 weeks for review. i only work part-time, so i think 200-250 hours will be enough because the material will be fresh in my mind.
