Who am I to care if someone thinks I’m gay. They think I’m gay? I think they’re stupid. And even if I were gay, why should it even f-in matter?
Besides, the only two people on this board who use it are Greenman and Stormy. The two of them are like opposite sides of the same bilious coin - or perhaps an Othello game piece.
Admittedly, stormy seems to have chilled out a bit, which I like. He hasn’t lost his edge, which is good, but he’s better at delivering his points.
I think only Itera, Lord of ER, Protector of the Realm, Guardian of the MBA Gates, and Wielder of the Rusty Saw is qualified to be moderator of Analystforumland.
I’ll second this. Systematic would be the most productive board member in the history of AF. By the end of the first week after his election the site would have a new layout, private messaging would be implemented (finally!!), advertising revenue would be up 300%, and membership would double.
Seems like the obvious choice if Systematic can handle the responsibility - no fap with a mission.
Yeah, I’ve been wondering how to up the level of the conversation here. Without the exams, there aren’t as many exam related question. In terms of macroeconomy, everything seems to be about the Fed, or possibly Europe (has anything happened since Cyprus?), and how deep China’s slowing will go, but people haven’t been talking too much about that.
I think we need to stop being such downers here. Too many people here just enjoy crapping on others, without adding much positive value, so no wonder we have people afraid to say anything that could be the spur to an interesting conversation.
Of course it doesn’t help that the newbies here keep getting younger and younger, even some who haven’t graduated high school yet asking about when to take the exams. Nothing wrong with being young and inexperienced, but it is hard to get insightful commentary out of them, or even to get thoughtful reactions (not impossible, just a lot harder).
And it doesn’t help that the contracting industry here is squeezing out people, so experienced people are going elsewhere and no longer here.
But none of this is deterministic. I like how ohai tends to post an interesting article, even if it isn’t finance related.
Maybe the more experienced folk here should post what they think the most interesting or relevant finance-related news piece is once in a while, and we can start discussions on it - perhaps in the investments section of the forum. From there we might get some discussions worth following.
I think there is thoughtful discussion on the investments and career forums…the issue is the water cooler gets way more traffic I think. I guess we should probably have some limits (i’m guilty of non-intellectual conversation on the WC as well) but isn’t that the point of the WC?
And yeah, the point of the WC is off topic stuff. If it were just quarreling over which version of excel to use nobody would post here. There’s going to be some lockeroom talk anytime your demographic is males in their 20’s. I dont post anywhere except the WC anymore. To me this is just a misc place to talk with like minded ppl, rather than misc ppl with like minded topics.
I vote for Itera so that we no longer have to read those “will CFA help me break in” threads. Itera will nuke the F out of them and we can go back to discussing No Fap, Power of Oneness, shaving man parts and beauty products for men.
On serious note, CFAvsMBA and Ohai are coolheaded and can make good moderators. However, Itera is active user than them but so are krnyc and NANA. Damn, tough decision.
