Why does it take so long for the Charter to arrive?

i was awarded the charter just a few weeks after results were announced. Still dont have that giant piece of paper to tape to my refrigerator. Who has and who hasn’t received their charter in the mail?

It always amazes me how slow CFAI is with this stuff.

I totally forgot they were even sending anything out. Any word on this?

My university degree came faster than this.

Ohai, yours came fast because you passed the exams earlier and were just waiting for work experience correct?

For those people who passed L3 this year and got the work experienced approved at the same time, everything is really mud-slow.

Hmm. That’s true. I passed L3 in 2010 but only applied for membership in 2012. Maybe they put you earlier in the queue if you pass earlier.

OP must have a commercial sized fridge if he plans to tape it up there. I seem to recall receiving my charter right around now when I earned it several years back. Maybe the printer forgot to order the colored ink for that spiffy new logo.

Still not received the charter. Charterholder since Aug 2012. Stay in NJ and NYSSA member

I received it in today’s mail (Illinois).

CFA Institute ID# xxxxxxxxxx FYI, this is what the CFAI had to say when I contacted them regarding this isssue. Dear Mr. xxxxx, Thank you for contacting us with your inquiry. Your charter will be delivered to the primary address you have on file by 31 December 2012. Please let us know if this is not the case. Feel free to contact us again if you have any further questions or concerns.

For those of you that passed Level III before having your work experience…once you rolled over to 48 months of work experience how long did it take to get approved to use the designation? I’m looking forward to getting the piece of paper, but just like everyone else I really want the designation as quickly as possible.

I have read a ton of threads, talked to the CFA Institute, etc, and still can’t get any type of timeline in my head. My current job has already been approved when I submitted my last work experience. But it still sounds like I have to re-apply to have my affiliate membership upgraded.

That sound right to you guys? How long am I looking at when I hit 48 months?

+1, still nothing yet. I have the frame ready to go too. Hopefully will get the charter today or tomorrow.
