I’d pick:

$1 foreign language

$5 CFA

$4 excel

$4 remember anyone’s name

$1 econ degree

U insecure?

Is it long only or can I go short?

I think the OP is referring to how attractiveness definitley impacts your career. Compare your workplace to the average bus-ride full of people. If not attractiveness, not being unattractive is defintely useful, people have to want to look at your face as you are talking.

long only

definitely. You don’t see any good looking homeless people

$5 - top 5 MBA

$3 - best looking guy in the room

$3 - personal tailor, unlmited clothes

$3 - 2 foreign languages

$1- mediocre state school economics degree

This entire list is completely useless. The vast majority of landing any “dream job” will be based on prior work experience, which you left out completely.

No one’s dream job will be some entry level position where your list actually matters.

Mine works for being a trophy husband.

obviously. But that takes the fun out of it. This is just a fun little discusion exercise. Ought to call you Mr. Buzzkill. WAIT, the ability to talk isn’t listed?! No one will get a dream job without the ability to talk!

$1- ability to speak 1 foreign language

$3- be the best looking guy in any room

$3- personal tailor to fit your suits & unlimited clothing budget w/ personal stylist

$3- 2 foreign languages

$5- warren buffet listed as a reference

^ Yes, I would pay $4 to speak three foreign languages

By the way, I was surprised not to find an option for investment acumen or something like that. Ultimately, that is the only thing that matters for the industry I work in, which is the buy side.

was hoping you’d respond to this thread, numi. Partially had you in mind when I created it. I notice that none of your list features any sort of academic or technical credential. Very interesting to hear your thoughts. Surprised worlds number one resume writer wasn’t on your list haha

probably should’ve added that. Sorry, I was in a hurry when I wrote the thread

To get the job, WB as a reference and public speaker. You may keep the change.

On alternative scenarios:

To do the job well, besides investment acumen, probably computer programming + Excel + languages.

If I was a complete beginner in finance and got the job I’d probably choose CFA + PhD + CPA.

$5- Top 5 MBA

$3- be the best looking guy in any room (I like to think I’m better looking than most GUYS already lol so best looking girl)

$2-CMA

$3- 2 foreign languages

$2- division 1 college athlete

Looks like being the best looking guy in any room is frequently chosen. What is the benefit of this from a career perspective?
