Zimmerman Case

Somebody killed somebody! Oh. My. God.

Oh, wait, that happened 54 times in my city so far this year.

People shoot people for all kinds of reasons, and it’s usually because they are robbing them and/or have beef with them. TM dying is terrible, but no more terrible than the many people that die every year from murders. And I don’t mean a flock of crows. I mean guns. And knives Because guns and knives kill people. Not crows.

No one except GZ knows what happened, but my bet is he thought TM was a threat because he fit the profile and/or TM actually did threaten him so he shot him.

Unless he was actually defending himself.

Is this a decent article?

know next to nothing about american race relations.

I heard that Ben Bernanke will dedicate the entire first day of his Senate Testimony debating the legal and moralistic undertones of the Trayvon Martin case and its effect on business inventories and inflation.

That’s a pretty good overview of the case, but it doesn’t say much about race relations.

Racism ended when BO was elected.

I wonder if they had a professional ebonics translator in the courtroom.

If Zimmerman’s father was the Peruvian parent instead of his mother and his last name was Sánchez, this wouldn’t have made the news, but he probably would have been convicted.

Why he gotta be Peruvian?

Because GZ’s mother is Peruvian (hence the claims that he’s not white, he’s Latino). His papa is an American cracker, so he’s stuck with a cracker last name.

Just another publication in “The Banner”, i mean NYPost.

I go pick a fight with a guy because I don’t like the way he looks. When I grab him, the guy defends himself and to my surprise, he is not so bad at it. But I have a gun so I shoot him. Clearly it is self defense so there are no consequences?

At least according to Florida law, as long as there are no other witnesses there aren’t.

Maybe that’s not exactly what Zimmerman did, but it sure looks like that is what the case enables.

The real issue is how racial profiling plus stand your ground laws enable this sort of thing to happen, and the issue of why “walking around while black” is such a dangerous activity.

Its a big deal because everyone thought that if you murder someone, white folks will lock you up. Everyone knows that drive by gets you life. Arm robbery, gets you 25 to life. Manslaugter gets you 20-30. You get caught with a gun, you get 3 to 10. But killerman muders a 17yr with skittles in his pocket and dont even get arrested? WTF

I was more SMH at him being Peruvian…like “Damn, why he gotta be Peruvian”…cuz I’m Peruvian.

Um, wat?

According to my Bolivian wife, all Peruvian’s are shady, so I guess it makes sense. blush

It was only after Al sharpton got involved and the media coverage that he got arrested and charged. 6 weeks later I think. Black folks get arrested on spot.

Obviously that’s all due to race. Not at all because of the laws in Flordia make it hard to arrest someone who claims self defense. And apparently the cops were right, he didn’t break the law.

Get over it. Or throw a brick through a window and take a plasma screen TV. That’ll show 'em!

WTF are you talking about? I don’t think there have been any riots, have there? Then again, I read the FT.

There have been protests but not riots. Maybe we have all evolved as a society. Who knew?

She may just be upset because most of South America generally looks down on Bolivians (especially Argentinians and Peruvians…not to say that I do, cuz I don’t). To be honest, its a whole other racial issue…since a lot of Bolivians tend to be dark skinned, especially if from Cochabamba or something. Some Peruvians are shady tho…not gonna argue there…but not all.
