Interesting, let’s try and keep it specific then. While as an American or a citizen of the world for that matter it is true we are all entitled to liberty and justice. Liberty means the ability of an individual to be in control of his own actions, Is anyone trying to take that away from you? I don’t think so.
The crux of the matter is that while anything seems to fly for Americans it doesn’t quite work that way for some other people. Telling muslims that some aspects of their faith might be extreme might be true or not but instead of exercising your liberty to go and tell them on their face or passing a general comment like ‘It’s not my fault their houses smell like curry’ why not use your liberty to get some compassion and sensitivity to realize that the lines that are acceptable to you might not be for other people.
Instead of demanding they get thicker skin which is not in your control why not try the other alternative which won’t offend people and generally leads to a much more healthy and productive environment.
But i guess we’re on your board and we dance to your tune here so why indeed should you care? Anyway nice chatting with you, gotta run and best of luck to you.

It’s quite despairing that when you tell someone that perhaps tact should be exercised along with his freedom of speech he takes it as a threat to his liberty.

So define the concept of liberty in a different way and it becomes ok to make it personal? Lovely. Quite a few reigons in the world enjoy this concept of liberty mate and i think you’ll find that the suggestion of exercising tact is not considered such a threat to their freedom of speech.
Isildurrr is not a reference to LOTR, It is a reference to something else entirely. Like i said , try it. You’ll find it doesn’t put your freedom in danger and the world becomes a nicer place.

You must really be secure in your concept of liberty when the thought of using a few filters before you speak raises your back up so much. I think you’ll find a lot of people throughout the world including the west exercise this and do not fear their words will get them killed.
